Pacifica Radio: Your Tax Dollar at Work (Though Not Hard Enough)
If you spin the radio dial in the vicinity of New York, Washington, Los Angeles, Berkeley, or Houston and hear someone who seems to have been mixing cocaine with amphetamines explaining at 11 words per second that Halliburton blew up the World Trade Center as part of a racist scheme to impose heterosexuality on spotted owls, chances are you have stumbled upon a member of the Pacifica Radio network, where Bush Derangement Syndrome is taken to a level of paranoid hysteria that can be found nowhere else outside of psychiatric institutions.
You might wonder how a network that spews psychotic anti-American jabberwocky could stay on the air in competitive markets. The answer is as appalling as it is unsurprising: they are handed $1 million per year of OUR MONEY by the Federal Government, courtesy of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
But apparently $1 million isn't enough. NewsBusters reports that Pacifica has kicked off a fund drive offering a new premium to contributors. Give them enough and you'll receive a DVD featuring Hollywood types reading from Howard Zinn's leftist attack on America, Voices of a People's History of the United States. Participating celebs include confirmed moonbats Danny Glover and Viggo Mortensen. The disk also features actress Marisa Tomei doing a dramatic reading of an anti-Bush diatribe by Cindy Sheehan.
Even if you don't feel like coughing up enough cash to get the disk, rest assured you've made your contribution — whether you wanted to or not.

You forgot D.C. too. Pity really, as the staion playts some good music (big band, jazz) otherwise. My best memory of the station is listening to the broadcast of Cynthia McKinney's rant on the Bush "conspiracy" on 9/11. Also the lcoal station here refuses to call the NFL team here, The Washington Redskins, as such, but instead The Washington Football Club, is used.

Hmmm... I almost curious to hear a Cindy Sheehan rant from someone that doesn't sound like an 11 year old Valley Girl on helium.

Reminds me of Apu on The Simpsons. "What do you say we take a relaxed attitude towards work and watch the baseball game? The En-Why Mets are my favorite squadron."

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is a wonderful example of how the Liberal mind works - or, rather, doesn't. Founded to provide "an independent source of news", the Liberals have never seen the contradiction in having it funded by the government (can you say "pravda"?).
That it has evolved into an outlet of hysterical anti-Americanism is simply a delicious American irony.

Pacifica is surpassed only by Air America in terms of committment to intelligent programming, the truth, and justice.
