Muslim Sermon
Here are a few uplifting spiritual words from Islamic preacher Abu Hamza al-Masri, currently jailed in Britain on terrorism charges.
We ask Muslims to do that, to be capable to do that, to be capable to bleed the enemies of Allah anywhere, by any means.
You can't do it by nuclear weapon, you do it by the kitchen knife, no other solution. You cannot do it by chemical weapons, you have to do it by mice poison. Like you imagine you have one small knife and you have a big animal in front of you.
The size of the knife — you cannot slaughter him with this. You have to stab him here and there until he bleeds to death. Then you can cut up the meat, or leave it to the maggots. This is the first stage of jihad.
A Crown Prosecution Service statement says of al-Masri:
Not only did he repeatedly advocate that Muslims should kill non-believers, he set out to persuade his listeners that it was part of their religious duty to do so.
Meanwhile, the vast majority of our newspapers refuse to reprint bland cartoons because vermin like al-Masri have decided to find them "offensive."

Abu Hamza wasn't jailed on terrorism charges, he was jailed for inciting murder and inciting racial hatred.
The reason why British newspapers have unanimously refused to publish these cartoons is that they have a sense of taste and decency. These cartoons are offensive to many Muslims. They're also shit - frankly, a three year old could have come up with better designs. I don't see the point in needlessly reprinting such obviously provocative cartoons which are evidently of no intrinsic value at all. This Guardian Leader sums up the situation (and the paper's reasons for not reprinting the articles) fairly well.
Now, having said that, before the "dhimmi" name-calling begins, I'd also like to point out that the Arab world has obviously massively overreacted to these events, very possibly deliberately in order to quell fundamentalist sentiment at home. But in my mind, that makes it even *more* important to calm the situation down and prevent these despotic regimes from making any more political capital out of it.

No freaking appeasement here, my friend. This war has been going on long enough. Let's finish it.

Interesting that you make the pirate analogy.
Islamic terrorism is very much like piracy use to be.
Do you know how the British dealt with pirates, thus purging their scourge from the face of the earth once and for all?
Certainly not with PC kid gloves. Sheer ruthless terror right back at them. Pirates knew if they were ever caught, it was complete and total damnation. No ACLU.

Mark: The cartoons don't need to be reprinted for their artistic value. You're right, they are not very good.
They do need to be reprinted to show that we do not accept a radical, violent minority imposing their religion on us.
We are under no obligation to show any sensitivity to people whose soul purpose is to kill us.

That one with Mohammed and two burka-clad women was good, and it made a very apt political point as well.
