Anti-Boycotts: Denmark and Sears
There are a few products I find myself boycotting for various reasons. It sometimes feels good to stick it to some company that has it coming, if only in the smallest way. Organized boycotts can even have a noticeable effect.
But there's a downside. Boycotts can degenerate into petty spitefulness and even self-parody. For example, the righteous refusal of freegans to buy anything they regard as ideologically tainted has led them to boycott everything. Consequently they have to root around in the garbage for food.
Maybe it's better to emphasize the positive, by taking part in anti-boycotts.
Considering that Denmark is currently being subjected to boycotts as punishment for not imposing sharia on its journalists, this is an excellent time to anti-boycott any product of that fine country. You can find a list at History News Network. Make a small contribution to staving off dhimmitude by drinking Carlsberg or Tuborg beer and buying your kids something from LEGO.
You can also feel good about shopping at Sears, which Snopes.com confirms treats military reservists right:
Sears is indeed one of the employers who take additional steps to show support for employees involved in serving their country by guaranteeing the continuance of their civilian pay (for up to 24 months) and health benefits (indefinitely). Many other companies, large and small, do the same for their workers, but as one of the nation's oldest and largest employers, Sears gets the publicity for setting a prominent example.
Unfortunately Sears doesn't seem to sell Carlsberg.

I'm rushing out to get me some pastry and beer right now! Then I'm going to go to Sears. Ok maybe I will go to Sears first!
