Have a Coke, Annoy a Moonbat

The 1990s campus crusade against Nike — which was accused of exploiting "sweatshops" — has petered out, possibly due to revelations that workers at Nike factories in Asia were making 3–5 times the average local wage, under unusually high working conditions. But until socialism has triumphed, there will always be another corporate demon for the "reality-based community" to accuse of outlandish crimes against humanity. The latest in their sights: Coca-Cola, which allegedly collaborated with right-wing Colombian death squads and used up groundwater in India.

The Detroit News reports that this campaign has made headway at the moonbat-rich University of Michigan, which will no longer allow Coke to be sold on campus. Never mind that the Coke that was sold at U-M was bottled locally by an independent company. Never mind that the Coca-Cola Co. has not been found guilty of any wrongdoing in Colombia, or that the groundwater problems in India may have had more to do with drought than with soda pop.

The fact is, there is something sinister about Coke, namely this: it has become emblematic of America. So naturally lefties will find some excuse to forbid it.

Look for future self-righteous campaigns against makers of flags, baseballs and apple pies, just as soon as campus kooks with too much time on their hands can dream up appropriate crimes.

In the meantime, have a Coke and a smile.

Just what is it with Moonbats and fast food? It's like they've never tried it before because it will cause them to see the light of Jesus or something. Sheesh, what infantile losers.

I'm willing to bet that your average Moonbat consumes FAR MORE fast food than your average American. See, with a good woman at home and six kids to feed, you can't afford fast food. Never been to a Fartbucks or whatever Moonbats call it.

Make a feast from scratch. I'll never meet a Moonbat that can do that, guaranteed.

What I find amusing is that moonbats, in pursuit of Marxist ideals of class "justice" and the like, resort in such a hair-trigger way to what is in essence a free-market capitalist behavior.

I say boycotting is a free-market capitalist behavior because, in a free market, if one dislikes the business practices of one producer one is free to take one's business elsewhere (in this case Pepsi, Sam's Best, Zam-Zam...). In the Worker's Paradise of their dreams, however, a boycott would be pointless as alternatives would not exist and withholding consumption would be unlikely to motivate a change in behavior of the proletariat-owned-and-operated state soda enterprise (and indeed, may be seen as a crime against the proletariat neccessitating a round of reeducation on the topic of social justice).

Of course, the appeal of boycotts to the moonbat crowd is not that they can act as a market signal to prompt a constructive change in a business' behavior, but that by withholding their business they are somehow "sticking it to" the big bad corporations...a worthy pursuit (from their point of view) all in itself.

Hmmm, I knew there was a greater meaning to my preference of Coke over Pepsi.

Go Capitalism!

I know how to get the Moonbats to drink Coca-Cola. Whip up a special Coca-Cola brew that uses real cocoa leaves so with every sip they get a bit of real coke in their system. Should mightily please the de-criminalize drugs advocates also.

Have a Coke and get high oh grumpy lotus-eaters so the rest of us can actually do something productive.

Anna

I believe that at early on in Cocca Cola's history, the beverage did contain traces of drugs.

I got my undergrad degree from Michigan. Ann Arbor is basically a big left-wing kindergarten.

It used to have cocaine in it. Long long ago. Thus its initial popularity when first on the market.

I live in leftieland and a casual stroll through any grocery store, observing shopping-cart contents, will quickly demonstrate that lefties consume staggering amounts of junk. Including 12-packs of Coke.

And I've never yet met one who can make an actual real meal. Edibly that is. No joke, they don't know how to do it.

Where the devil do they find the time for all these protests and agitations anyway. Do none of them work? Egads.

As a matter of fact it used to be a coca wine, made by soaking the leaves in cheap wine which was then bottled. In that form it was only a bit stronger than the caffiene is now, and probably better for you too. Refined cocaine is bad for you because it's artificially enhanced to the point where it becomes dangerous. Sort of like caffiene, again, which is a potent carcinogen in its purified form and also highly addictive. Coca tea is used as a cure for mountain sickness and only gives you a very mild buzz.

Of course, your average lefty wouldn't see the problem with snorting coke, but try getting them to snort caffiene...

Ah, I forgot to add, the reason it stopped being a wine was prohibition. The owners of the company turned it in to a soda to get around that, but it still contained coca extracts.

I think Coca Cola corp are the only company in the US licensed to import cocaine plants. But tha tmight be an urban myth.

I do have one beef with Coca-Cola. They were suckered by Jesse "Shakedown" Jackson into donating big $$$ to his various scams and schemes.

They may be about to learn they cannot buy liberal love.
