Canadian Disgrace
Moonbattery and envy have been feeding on each other to produce a deformity in the attitude of some Canadians toward the USA that is truly hideous to behold. It seems to be affecting all walks of life — even sports.
WorldNetDaily reports on fans in Vancouver cheering on the Russian team against the American team, chanting "U.S. sucks," etc. The article quotes Pete McMartin of CanWest News Service as commenting that U.S. coach Walt Kyle
was under the mistaken impression — one still shared by many Americans, the poor, trusting boobs — that because our two great countries are neighbors, and have co-existed peacefully for over 150 years, and have vast economic and cultural ties, that he could consider Canada a home-ice-away-from-home and Vancouverites would naturally cheer for the American team rather than for a team from a country which, not 20 years ago, was chiefly known for its vicious soul-crushing despotism, and whose hockey teams were reviled by Canadian fans as products of a drab socialist machine that saw sport as nothing more than an arm of state propaganda.
According to McMartin, the U.S. coach probably "hadn't figured on the Canadian weakness for envy."
This is not the first time Canadians have subjected American hockey players to their psychic abscesses. In 2003, U.S. peewee hockey players who traveled to Montreal for a tournament were barraged with anti-American insults and had to witness deranged moonbats trashing our flag. It seems the kids could not be forgiven for coming from the same country that was putting an end to this:
Their bus was set upon by demonstrators who made obscene gestures and dragged Old Glory through the street. In a separate incident,
the Americans watched as a crowd cheered when a protester waved the Iraqi flag, and booed the U.S. flag. Next, the Stars and Stripes were doused with kerosene and ignited.
The kids went to a Montreal Canadiens–New York Islanders game, where they got to hear our national anthem booed. It got worse when they hit the ice themselves, according to Brockton Boxers coach Ernest Nadeau.
"They told us we s----, gave us the finger and said 'Down with the U.S.A.' or 'The U.S.A. s----," Nadeau said.
Making matters worse, the referee chimed in, "I agree with you," following one Canadian player's derogatory comment.
Of course the excuse for this sort of behavior will be that liberals, who apparently predominate in Canada, disapprove of the American government putting an end to Saddam's genocide in Iraq. But the whole phenomenon of America-bashing is much more visceral than any foreign policy dispute.
It's as if they realize that America is the only thing holding back the darkness — and they hate us for it.

Canada is for all intents and purposes a Socialist state, in case no one has noticed their very severe leftist shift over the past 40 years or so.
During the 1960s we had to endure my mother, a Canadian, going on endlessly about Canada's all-around superiority to the U.S.; to the point where we kept telling her go home by all means, do return to Canada. Please. We'll send postcards. Maybe. It was obnoxious, and that was my own parent. Feh.
More recently I've had several very strange but not surprising experiences with Canadians. I spent a week in Calgary and one in B.C., during which I was treated to a constant barrage of why they don't like us from friend and stranger alike. In Calgary the insults were politely couched; in B.C. dwell the rudest people ever. They ALL enjoy bumming cigarettes from Americans while discussing how Canada "has no identity and that's you Americans' fault."
I always countered with Well, you've got tons of land, eh? Tons of resources natural and human. So do something with it. Create your identity because btw that's what the States had to do. This brought on glazed stares without fail. But no replies.
Yet again I turn tables in my mind. Imagine if we were treating guests from another country in this way. Burning their flags when their teams visit. Harassing and frightening the kids. The international media would never let it go, it would be front-page fodder throughout the world for days.
Canada suffers from collective low self-esteem and that's nobody's fault but their own. I'm just sorry they see fit to behave like a bunch of hoodlums.

Canadians were offended when after the September 11th attacks in a join session to congress, President Bush pointed up to the gallery where Prime Minister Tony Blair was watching and said "We have no greater friend than Great Britain" (paraphrase).
It's sad that our neighbors to the north couldn't make more of an effort to be better friends as well.
That excellent piece you recommended by former Candadian Mark Steyn describes the Canadian/Western European disease so well.
Better start working on building a fence on the north border too. After Candada falls to Sharia law, we'll be fortress America once again and you can bet alot of ex Canadians will be trying to escape Canadastan.

You guys are right about Canuckistan and I live here......but at least I am in Alberta which is the most Pro American Province and their is some sanity here!!
Look at this way......Quebec will be leaving in the next few years, followed probably by Alberta leaving.........
I can't stand what Canada has become....but thankful at least I am in Alberta.........
If America were ever to invade us, I would be standing there applauding your troops...
We are a gutless, backstabbing, multiculti nightmare that stands for nothing but will fall for everything...
Let Canada be a warning to America......we were at one time a great and brave nation.....but 40 years of socialism in our govt and schools has absolutely warped people here......They are trying to do the same thing to you Americans but your people overall are much wiser to it and Thank God for that!!!
It sucks to be a member of a country that you hate!!!

It seems the kids could not be forgiven for coming from the same country that was putting an end to this: (pan to pics of bones in mass grave)
Maybe they understand that 'Murica is putting more bodies in those graves every day.

So let me get this straight, Rob. You're implying that the Americans are rounding up entire villages for some imagined slight against the President, executing them and then burying them in unmarked mass graves in the middle of the desert? Because that's where those graves came from.

Albertanator -
thank you for your post. I do follow what goes on in Canada very closely - in part out of habit having had a Canadian parent myself but moreso out of what you point out - Canada is a huge social warning to us, a cautionary tale, and we in the U.S. will do well to watch and read the signals.
"Islam has won". that's what that Muslim politician just said up there a few weeks ago. Americans need to listen carefully and never allow this to happen here.
We'll go down with guns blazing before we'd let the U.S. turn Socialist or anything else but we have got to be alert to all the signs along the way.
It is a shame that Canada too has jumped on the worldwide popular kick-Americans-in-the-teeth-as-a-pleasant-hobby bandwagon. Very, very sad. But who do they all call when they're in trouble? 1-800-USA-HELP. I don't think any of our boys in any conflict meant to die for free people to turn around and kick metaphorical sand in our eyes.

Well, Well, Rob I see that you're stupidity and venality goes across mulitiple issues. I suggest getting some fucking books, and doing a lot of reading. I also suggest you get you're head out of your multi-cultural hate america/whitey ass and get the fuck out pussy.

This just reminds me that the Governess of Michigan is a Canadian moonbat, who seems to be doing her best to instill jobless Canadian socialism there.

Well, Rob B., now that you've made a snide comment in defense of mass graves, perhaps you'd like to drop down to the child rape thread and explain why that's a good thing, too.

I resolve that in my capacity as small business owner and all around good guy (And 1/2 canadien to boot), to make sure that I mention to each an every Canadien I meet in the near future that they should get the fuck out and then ask them how it feels. I'll take the time to snidely mention their weakness a a country, and the fact that their security comes from my country whether either of us likes it or not. And I'll also be sure to let them know that penis envy in whatever form it manifest's itself is for pussy's. Man this has gotten under my craw, but I guess it'll make me enlightened like them, what with following their actions and thoughts and all.

Laura , their are Canadians up here that will fight too but we a smaller minority then the fighters in America....out West, we tend to have a bit more common sense..
The good news is that Quebec will be leaving soon and the only way Canada can ever be fixed is by destroying it.....ie Provinces leaving...
The West or Alberta will eventually form its own country also........and all these balkanized bits of former Canada will know who their sugar daddy is....
Personally, I am for the West completely uniting with America and that is not eventually out of the question either....
Either way, Canada is in grave trouble and rightly so........I have nothing but utter CONTEMPT for what this country stands for!!
Socialism, MultiCULTurism, Pacifism, Gutlessness and so forth...
Shame on this once great land of mine!!!

Some sort of true unity would be nice - in my 48 years on this earth I have yet to meet an American hostile toward Canadians in even the smallest way. The CanWest writer was right on in his assessment of the "poor boob Americans" thinking they'd be on friendly territory. We don't look unkindly upon Canada and never have.
There are some real basic differences though in the two countries- big crucial differences. Our original histories are apples to oranges. Canada has a Parliament, a Prime Minister, and functions on a British model of government. Our own setup was deliberately contructed to escape the pitfalls of not just the Church of England but the British construct of government.
These vital differences create vastly different results in its citizenry as time plays itself out. In my converstations with Canadians, with the sole exception of this exchange with you, they do not see what has happened to their country. They seem to think all is well and fine, and will not engage in discussion about it. They will engage enthusiastically in bashing the States and its individual citizens but not in examination of Canada itself.
On this continent, Americans are starting to feel sandwiched between two incredibly ungrateful neighbors - Canada, and Mexico. And that sandwich bites.
We are living through a historic worldwide threat and conflict. Let's all hope for better times.
