British Cop in Hot Water For Calling Scum "Pondlife"

A British detective is facing disciplinary action and may be fired because he referred to a career criminal as "pondlife" in a private conversation, on the grounds that the criminal "might have been offended" had he been present, which he wasn't.

Three other officers are in the same boat because covert video recordings caught them using "inappropriate language" in private conversations. All four have been relieved of any duties that could bring them into contact with the public until their punishments have been decided.

They are not suspected of criminal activity. Their private comments were recorded purely by accident. Some of them have put in more than 20 years of service.

Had enough political correctness yet?

And let us take a moment to note the utter lack of action being taken by the "Right to Privacy" crowd, who're still ranting and raving about the Patriot Act and NSA wire-taps.

Funny - I personally find "pondlife" rather clever. Of course, the pond life might have objected.

Perhaps that's why they were suspended. We can't go around offending those poor oppressed aquatics...
