BET's Person of the Year

Black Entertainment Television viewers have named 2005's Person of the Year. Needless to say, the person is black. But of the many blacks who made notable positive contributions to our society last year, which one won? Condoleezza Rice? Lt. Gen Russell Honore? Thomas Sowell? Nah — all three are overqualified. The winner is... get ready for this... Louis Farrakhan!

Farrakhan is best known as fuehrer/ayatollah of the bizarre Islamofascist cult known as Nation of Islam, almost certainly the most pernicious organization to operate legally in this country. His most notable contribution to society over the past year was his dissemination of the notion that sinister white people dynamited levees in New Orleans in order to kill blacks.

Unlikely as it seems, this is not the craziest thing to come out of Calypso Louie's piehole. He would also have his followers believe that Caucasians were created by an evil black scientists, and that a space ship is going to come and save the world by bombing white people.

A few more nuggets of Farrakhan's wisdom:

  • Whites are "blue eyed devils."
  • Jews are "bloodsuckers."
  • Judaism is a "gutter religion."
  • Hitler was a "great man."
  • "It is an act of mercy to white people that we end your world."

Farrakhan disputes Osama bin Laden's culpability for 9/11. He has enjoyed very cordial relations with the terror-supporting dictators of such countries as Iran, Libya, Syria, Sudan, and pre-liberation Iraq.

Other than Tookie Williams, it would be difficult to think of any black American whom it would be more inappropriate to admire than Louis Farrakhan. If BET's audience represents anything remotely close to mainstream black opinion, this whole country is in very serious trouble.

When I saw that he made the #1 spot I was appalled. He is a very sick individual, and unfortunately, he has a great deal of influence.

These are people who see the likes of murdered thugs like Tupac Shakur and "Biggie Smalls" as "Martyrs".

Their cultural heroes adopt names like "Capone" and (sic)"Noreaga"...

Does BET condemn or even criticize this abject glorification of criminality?

Of course not- it's their bread and butter, the wholesale cheapening and ultimately the destruction of their very own people.
