Dispatches From the War on Christmas

Laurelle Allen, a principal in Queensland, Australia, has formally apologized for using the word "Christmas" in school newsletters, after militant kooks Paul and Melanie Jowsey — who oppose the "historical dominance of Christianity" in Australia — complained that this objectionable word appeared a total of 10 times in three newsletters, thereby subjecting them to "direct and indirect discrimination."

The guilty principal actually managed to indulge in two violations in a single sentence with this unconscionable greeting:

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all families a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and safe Christmas holiday period.

"I'm not being a Scrooge," Paul Jowsey snarled. "The celebration of religious events has no place in state schools. Forcing the observance of such on young children is a dinosaur. We've had enough and you don't have a right to push it down everybody's throats."

Discarding pride and principle, Ms. Allen buckled to these thugs, whimpering that she "should have referred to the holiday season rather than the Christmas season."

But others are fighting back. In Georgia, legislation is pending to protect students and faculty who are punished by their schools for saying "Merry Christmas" to each other.

No wonder moonbats and radical Muslims make such effective allies in their campaign against Western Civilization. Both are motivated by the same enlightened tolerance.

Seems like the only one "forcing and pushing" stuff down our throats are the intolerant ones that don't want Christmas. Celebrating Christmas was fine for 200 years. All of a sudden it's become "offensive"....to whom? A small minority of discontent, moaning and complaining grouches who wouldn't be happy no matter what.
I'm not offended by Christmas any more than I would be offended seeing a mennorah somewhere. Kwaanza and Ramadan don't scare me, nor will I scream for their removal or censorship. What good is the First Amendment if we can't exercise it?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

You mean it doesn't say freedom from religion? And what's all this stuff about freedom of speech? Doesn't it apply to Christians and those who celebrate Christmas?

Awwww, dude. You used the pic I'm captioning for tomorrow.

Personally, I think we need to cut off the ACLU and Michael Newdow at the knees once and for all with a Religious Heritage Amendment to the Constitution. It would simply say that religious symbols can be displayed on government property, and protect the rights of all citizens to express religious faith.

In theory, the First Amendment already protects those rights. Unfortunately, too many idiot liberals think a Nativity Scene in front of a courthouse is the same thing as establishing an official state religion.
