Bill Richardson Ends Career as Ex-Almost Major Leaguer

New Mexico Governor and rumored POTUS hopeful Bill Richardson has backed away from his longstanding, Al Gore-esque claim to have been drafted by MLB's Kansas City (now Oakland) A's in 1966.

The tall tale of having been picked by the A's was included in a biography Richardson released when running for Congress in 1982. It came up in a White House press release in 1997 just before he was named US ambassador to the UN. News organizations — including AP — have reported it as fact for years.

The Albuquerque Journal looked into the story, and found no evidence that Richardson was ever drafted by anyone, prompting Richardson to publicly state the following:

After being notified of the situation and after researching the matter ... I came to the conclusion that I was not drafted by the A's.

Richardson has also claimed to have been drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1968. Presumably this isn't true either. The authenticity of the photo below has also come into question.

you'd think he'd be able to remember whether he played major-league baseball or not. It's not exactly something you'd be able to miss.

"Honey, I just had a thought."
"Careful dear, you know what the doctor said."
"Yes yes, but remember when I thought I was working for the government? Turns out I was actually playing baseball."

These are the nuts that are suppose to be leading us!! Leading us where, I have no idea!! After watching him bite his nails for days while being questioned about missing computers at Los Alamos, I thought his career was over. But, alas, it was just starting!! In Detroit the intellectually superior have voted Kilpatrick back in!!! Like Clark Griswald from X-mas vacation said, "I wouldn't be any more surprised if I woke up with my head sewn to the carpet".
