American Moonbattery Feeds Spreading Cancer in Latin America

Dick Morris has a disturbing piece in the New York Post warning of the Frankenstein monster we are helping to create in Latin America with our dependence on foreign oil, our unfortunate appetite for cocaine, and our equally unfortunate unwillingness to commit to the free-market principles this country represents.

The Achilles heel of communism — which Reagan adroitly exploited to bring down the Soviet Union — is the fact that, economically speaking, left-wing ideology simply doesn't work. Paying people to be subservient slaves to an all-powerful government does not generate wealth the way freedom does.

But thanks to our dependency on foreign oil — exacerbated by the environmental extremism that impedes both nuclear technology and oil drilling in our own country — some countries don't need to be economically efficient. They just need to be sitting on a lake of oil.

One such country is Venezuela, which strongman Hugo Chavez is deliberately steering on a collision course with the USA. He has used his oil wealth to export anti-Americanism and anti-capitalism throughout Latin America, and may even pose a threat to Mexico, which has become increasingly annoyed with Venezuela's heroin trafficking activities.

Cuba's brutal dictator Fidel Castro isn't the only kindred heart Chavez has found in Latin America. He has been getting along fabulously with FARC — the gang of leftist narco-terrorists who are trying to snuff out democracy in Colombia, funded by America's hunger for cocaine just as Chavez is funded by our failure to meet our own energy needs.

Further exacerbating the problem is our indulgence in protectionism, which makes it more difficult for Latin American countries to develop into the sort of wealthy capitalist democracies where left-wing totalitarianism appeals only to journalists and college professors.

Much as I hate to compare a great man to a slug like Chavez, it could be that Chavez has discovered America's Achilles heel — moonbattery — just as Reagan zeroed in on the Soviet Union's prime weakness. As left–liberal kookiness and decadence corrode our culture from within, they present frightening opportunities for external enemies like Chavez.

Mexico's Vicente Fox would rather wring Chavez's neck than pull his finger.

Comments

Didn't both countries recall their ambassadors after the latest summit all because Chavez kept threatening Mexico. Plus Chavez's earlier comment calling Fox Bush's puppy dog.

Someone needs to tell Hugo that Cuba lacks any kind of force projection. Plus the newest rumours of inFidel finally maybe perhaps kicking the bucket or rice cooker should cool Chavez's ardour until they are debunked.

As for the FARC, they are a problem. From the early 90s onwards these 'communist' rebels sold themselves out to the narco kingpins to act as security. Colombia is trying to get a handle on them but the drug trade is too lucrative. Plus there have been certain august members of the US Congress who have tried to derail US support for Colombia against FARC and the narco kingpins over alleged human rights abuses. What is amusing is how these members ignore the wanton killings committed by FARC and the kingpins in the name of protecting their profits.

How much of a double standard is there amongst the leftist crowd? For two years now, three Americans have been held by the FARC as hostages. But nary a peep is heard from such as Amnesia International since these three Americans were contractors helping Colombia fight its drug war when their aircraft went down.

To help Colombia in its fight, the US must hammer hard those who peddle cocaine and thus crimping the money flow. And if Chavez's little tin-pot dictatorship is actually helping the heroin trade slip into Mexico, well then lets call the OAS and declare a formal case of war against Chavez. And oust him.

We should remember the actors, especially Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT) from my home state, who have continually impeded the President's ability to deal successfully with Latin America through diplomacy and the State Department. When Mr. Dodd filibustered Otto Reich for Undersecretary, Latin American Affairs, he sent a clear message to Chavez and the other gun-toting thugs south of the border, that powerful US politicians are willing to emasculate the foreign policy of a duly-elected US executive branch. This has left Chavez, Castro, FMLN,FARC, Shining Path and other Marxist/Maoist/terrorist groups a free hand to assault citizens and democratically elected governments in pursuit of their "revolutionary" objectives. As long as we're too busy to pay attention to what our elected "representatives" are up to, we will continue to routinely suffer indignities to US' global prestige, which in the long run become real credibility gaps. Thank you.

Typical right wing nonsense. This is just another smoke screen to justify lining your presidents pockets with more oil money. You people can't see the forrest for the trees. Who do you think will benefit from drilling in Anwar? The American people? No GEORGE W BUSH thats who. In fact who has embraced the Saudi Royal family more than your president's family has. No one thats who. Keep drinking the coolaid pal.

Oh, and I've never used hot water, been in a bus or a car or a heated house or building, or used books made out of paper or woern clothing that required electricity in its manufacture. My internet connection comes from my tin foil hat. My screen is my horn-rimmed glasses held together with duct tape. My keyboard is not made from wood or plastic or metal since that would be rape against mother Gaia. So I admit, I'm a fucking idiot and hypocrite.

My guess is B. grad hasn't a clue about ANWAR. Because if he did he would know it has absolutely NO value to anyone except AS a source of oil. The place is a barren, ugly, unforgiving wasteland and the only people who live there actually want the drillers to come.

And how does more using nuclear technology for power help the "evil" oil companies?

So many moonbats to educate -- so little time.

I find it amazing that those believing that the President and Vice President are lining their pockets with oil money have yet to produce the paper trail.

But hey.. why bother to think when it far easier to memorize bumper-stickers.

You would think that being involved in two losing wars would be enough for some Americans, but it looks like you lunatics are going for the triple.

War without end, still as long as it not you that are doing the dying.

That's right 2,000 dead is a GRIM MILESTONE, but it's not you that's doing the dying.

You're losing the war--you're winning the war. Quagmire--Imperial domination. I just can't decide!
Maybe when I pull mt head out of my ass I can see again.
