Alms From the Devil
Would you take cheap heating oil as charity from this man?

Before you say yes, read the story of Jesus Soriano, an erstwhile Chavez supporter who accidentally fell afoul of the regime. A highlight:
The government denied that Soriano had been mistreated. A thorough medical examination by a civil surgeon reveals that, beyond lacerations, severe bruising, and cracked ribs, Soriano had been repeatedly raped while in custody. His right arm shows that he has been injected. Nails are missing from his left hand. Soriano's internal organs have been crushed to the point that he urinates blood, and he cannot walk without assistance.

Where are all the lefties who protest our "torture" at Abu Ghraib???
Oh, that's right... They don't care about torture if the person doing it opposes Bush too.
I forgot!

Good point, Mike. I always figured they ignored torture (even *real* torture like Sr. Soriano apparently suffered) and other human rights abuses abroad because it wasn't the U.S. doing it. This preoccupation with the faults of U.S. is kinda funny, when you think of how fond moonbats are of tut-tutting American exceptionalism and reminding us that the U.S. is nothing special.
If there was even the vaguest whiff of a suspicion that Soriano's torture was done on *behalf* of the U.S., well...I betcha his situation would get all kinds of media attention.
