The Binational Solution

If you're Israeli, no you're not paranoid: the world really is out to get you — or at least the United Nations is.

It seems that withdrawing from the Gaza strip didn't accomplish much — other than converting a synagogue into a terrorist weapons museum. Not only did Hamas seem to take the withdrawal as a reward for their terrorism, but the UN has been left still unconvinced that Israel is sufficiently devoted to self-destruction.

John Dugard, the UN's "special rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights in the territories occupied by Israel since 1967," is ready to scrap the two-state solution to the Palestinian problem. In his view there should be only one state — and that state isn't Israel.

"Consideration should be given to the establishment of a binational Palestinian state," Dugard opines. "The demography of the region increasingly points to such an outcome."

"Demography" is a scary word in this context. What it implies is blowing Israel to bits with a Palestinian population bomb. Dugard's hostility to Israel is no secret. He equates it with South Africa under apartheid and evidently wants to see it destroyed. Some of his anti-Israel allegations have been inflammatory to put it mildly. According to the Jerusalem Post, he has "alleged that setters have terrorized Palestinian children, poisoned wells and fields, destroyed crops and stole sheep."

As it's evident that people like Dugard typify the UN bureaucracy, Israel can forget about evenhanded treatment. The Israel = South Africa template spells inevitable doom for the Jewish state if they leave their fate in the hands of Turtle Bay bloviators, who would be mollified by nothing less than the last Israeli jumping into the sea.

This gives Israelis a certain advantage, if they're will to take it: at this point there is no reason to let the Left's condemnations hem in their attempts at self-defense.

Thanks to Byron for the tip.

You know whay the Left hates Israel (aside from Israelis being Joooooos) in spite of the fact that Israel was founded by leftists, has a left-leaning society, and a socialist government?

Leftism-- in all its improbable contortions-- has adopted as a vital pillar of the leftist creed a religious pacifism. Pacifism is to be regarded with the utmost piety, to which one must aspire to the abandonment of all reason and logic.

Israel, quite obviously, is not characterized by suicidal pacifism, which enrages the modern left. Even if they don't regard Israel as an inherently evil enterprise, they still feel that peace would come from Israel dropping its sword and giving up to the Arabs.

Just for fun, let's list all the vital struggles that have been won by pacifists...

Right.

I can name one: India. Although, truth be told, Ghandi didn't so much win that one as sit around until the British realised that India was costing them too much money and too many troops. Oddly enough it was the continual uprisings by Muslims against British troops, and Hindus, and Buddhists and just about anyone else they could see that eventually caused the Empire to come up with the idea of partition, which is pretty much when Ghandi decided he'd won.

The UN is a bunch of self-hating Europeans who are giving up their countries and culture to the Muslims, and who are pissed that the whole world isn't following suit. They have no backbone, they have no self-respect, so they lash out at countries that do have those traits and that dare to stand up for themselves.

The UN's submissiveness towards the Islamic world and their anti-Israel, anti-freedom positions are nothing new to the average Israeli. Our first Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion, put it best when he said: "Um Shmum". Basically meaning, that we really don't give a damn what the UN has to say.
