Shrinking Market for Moonbattery
The free market can potentially solve any problem you can think of — even moonbattery. No wonder liberals prefer socialized news like PBS, NPR, and the state-run propaganda services on which people rely for information in Europe.
The New York Times Co. has reported a 52% decline in third-quarter profit "due to expenses related to job cuts announced earlier this year, as well as ongoing advertising weakness at its New England media properties" according to MarketWatch (hat tip: Wiggins). And here I was thinking that job cuts were supposed to save money. If they could only revive their anemic circulation, the Times would be spared the expense of laying people off.
But at least the Gray Lady has a circulation. Their co-ideologues at Err America seem to have no listenership at all, at least not in DC. From the Washington Post:
Air America, the liberal talk network carried on WWRC-AM (1260), went from bad to nonexistent. After WWRC recorded a mere fraction of a rating point in the spring with syndicated shows from the likes of lefty talkers Al Franken, Janeane Garofalo and Stephanie Miller, Arbitron couldn't detect a measurable listenership for the station this time around.
Here we see one of the many pitfalls of capitalism, from the left-wing point of view. Give people a choice, and they just might chose wisely.

Maybe moonbattery is just another of those fashionable things that's finally going out of style again. Like bell bottoms. They both come back every twenty or so years (oddly at the same times) and then fade away for newer styles. They turn their bell bottoms in to Goodwill along with their Tin Foil HatsĀ® and twenty years later - BAM. Back in style! It's gonna be hell getting those bumper stickers off though. And those peace sign and Che tatoos are always good for a laugh when you're old.

In the alternative if Mrs. Duggar had 16 abortions instead, she would be the toast of Mr. Morford's town, heck, she might even get to speak at the next Democratic Convention.

Air America is a pathetic joke. Rush summed it up best; said they failed because they were set up political activists, not entrepreneurs. They figured their moonbatism would be enough to garnish listeners. They were wrong.

Oyster, you see far and wide, and I'm sure you're as lovely as you are smart. Now that's enough charm. The point of the original post, that the free market applies to politics as well as bellbottoms, is absolutely true, and is the primary reason why a functioning democratic republic like ours can weather any storm. The forces of anti-Western civilization, forces of considerable strength and determination, have been trying long and hard, over a hundred years now, to destroy what has taken so long to achieve, and they have come close to succeeding at times, but they will fail so long as We the People refuse to be led like sheep into a socialist dystopia.

Lovely? Smart? Oh, now you're calling me names! Put 'em up!

Funny how a couple of years ago Al Franken was talking of kicking Rush's ass in the ratings, and now they have to steal from the boys and girls clubs to stay on the air.
For a whole month liberals were talking about how great Air America was, now they want the fairness doctrine back, to force people to listen to them.
