The Old Gray Hag Spits at Texas

The New York Times has done a lot of stupid things lately, but this takes the cake. They have taken a tiger by the tail. They have messed with Texas — though being the Times, they did it in a slippery, underhanded way.

Here's what the Gray Lady has to say about Houston, which is now home to the largest relief shelter in American history:

No one would accuse this city of being timid in the scramble to profit from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

How would they dare say something not only so insulting but so outrageously inaccurate to a country full of people who are perfectly aware of the sacrifices Houston has readily made on behalf of refugees from Katrina?

They wouldn't. The quote above was from The International Herald Tribune, which is basically an international version of the New York Times. It is published in Paris, where it may find a receptive audience for its snide and bigoted calumnies. The domestic version of the story tones down the Texas-bashing, although the Times did see fit to compare a Houston real estate company to ambulance chasers in both versions.

The idea is that by feeding and sheltering thousands of desperate refugees, Houston is somehow exploiting them in order to stimulate their economy. This sort of nonsense is par for the course for the bitter loony-left ideologues at the Times. The real estate company has been exploiting the poor victims by offering them special financing rates. Now do you understand why capitalism must be smashed?

"This article did not help our image across the world," said Massey Villareal of the Great Houston Partnership.

It wasn't intended to.

According to these moonbat asshats, generosity doesn't count if it doesn't come from the government.

The liberals are galled that the state that represents everything they hate about America has picked up the ball when their decadent fellow travelers in NO and Louisiana completely fumbled it. New Orleans is (was) French and Socialistic. Houston is Texan and a monument to capitalism. The latter rescuing the former is an affront to everything the left holds dear.

Katrina has brought out the absolute worst in the Moonbat hords. I would've thought they'd wait a month before flinging Guano, but their reaction to Katrina has complety amazed me. The New Pork Times, although very left, often hides its intent in smug innuendo, but Katrina has brought out the absolute worst in all Lefties. They're sure having a run, first Cindy Shee... and now Katrina. I guess you folks will be able to add a lot of Katrina Republicans, to the 911 Republicans and Sheehan Republicans. All you'll have to do is field a half decent candidate for Pres. next time, and the GOP will have 8 more years. You can thank the Moonbats for that.

May not like it, but it's true. Read the article and you'll find mortgage companies in Texas bending rules and cutting breaks to get New Orleans evacuees to move there. And you can't argue with geography. Houston is the port set to pick up the profits lost in New Orleans. If you think there aren't any capitalists in Texas -- you're blind as a moonbat!

How would they dare, you ask? Because they are the New York Times and they think they are Godlike, even though it would probably be hard to find God around their building. I've lived in 9 states in the last 40 years and the only time I ever read the Times is when I'd visit New York City. How many people do you know who read the Times? It is the main news source for the major news outlets and for the inside the Beltway crowd, so we hear about them all the time, but that's because those MSM types are too lazy to get the story for themselves and rely almost exclusively on the NYT.

The Blogoshpere was two days ahead of all the big media, including TV, about the unused busses, it is ahead of the story right now about Governor Blanco's total incompetence and, in my opinion, some other more evil motives, the Blogoshpere was way ahead on the Sheehan story. I'm sure we could go back two or three years or more and find that the Blogosphere has been ahead of nearly ALL major stories.

They (the media powers) tried to discredit the Blogosphere, saying the information is mostly incorrect or undocumented, but over the past couple of years, they've had to wipe too much egg off their collective faces to make that claim stick.

They dare because they have little respect for the average American, like you, me, all of us who have now found a way to participate and make his, her or our voice heard.

Thank God (for you moonbats, that would be the Creator of the universe, life, etc.) that Texans ARE capitalistic, Denny! New Orleans was a giant welfare state of an existence...a monument to socialism and government dependence. The citizens are finding out just how generous those EVIL capitalists are! :-)

It will be interesting to track the progress of displaced Katrina victims in that horrid capitalistic hellhole Texas -- if some stay and take root, where will they go? Will they bring their welfare-state dependency with them, or will they take a lesson from Texans and turn their lives around?

The Old Gray Hag/Wench/Bitch has outdone herself with this -- a recent contender was those recent editorials criticizing Bush re the levees, after criticizing flood planning a few years ago, take the cake.

[OH: This just in from Brit Hume: Sierra Club once sued Army Corps of Engineers for flood control measures they were trying to take... ]
