Rubbing in Salt at Ground Zero

To get an idea of the kind of art we might expect to be seeing at Ground Zero, this was on display in the neighborhood on September 11, courtesy of an exhibit by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council:

Other exhibits include a suitcase bomb and a straitjacket made out of an American flag.

Honorees of the exhibit include Susan Sontag and Edward Said, both of whom made it very clear whose side they were on when it comes to Islamic terror. It wasn't our side.

I hope this sort of thing appeals to those who come to Ground Zero to pay their respects, because as the New York Post pointed out:

Sponsoring all this are some of the same folks designing the IFC and Ground Zero: LMCC President Tom Healy is on the IFC's planning staff. Charles Maikish, tapped by Gov. Pataki and Mayor Bloomberg to run the Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center, is LMCC chairman emeritus.

The IFC is the International Freedom Center — which the Left prefers to a tasteful memorial to the victims of 9/11 at Ground Zero.

Thanks go to the arts community for constantly reminding us that not all of our enemies are overseas.

I'm embarrassed to say, that I'd expect about half of my Canadian fellows to be of the same, or similar mind as those you've illustrated in this post. I love to debate them, because in most cases all I get back is cliches based on rubbish. Imagine how bad it must be Europe, where 90% of the media Bush-bashes and America-bashes on a regular basic. If you ever get the stomach and watch BBC world news and it's coverage of major events where terrorists are involved, it is no wonder that Euro-snobs feel the way they do. The saddest part is though, that you have your share of these irrational nut-jobs in the US; led of course by none other than Howard Dean, king of the loony-left. I keep thinking though, that in the end the Guano-crowd will do nothing but create more Republicans... or in the least, people who simply don't vote.

I thought the leftists of the Democratic Party was all for gun control? Oh wait, they hate Bush so in this case a gun is okay. The hypocritical stench is overwhelming, I think I will go gag now.

I hope the Secret Service pays a visit to the 'artist' and that artist better be glad this is not the USSR or the NKVD would have him shipped to Siberia for 15 years hard labor.

Anna - Actually, I think they'd "disappear" the artist, his family, his friends, his dog, his exhibit and all evidence he ever existed. At least, Stalin's NKVD would...the left loves Stalin.

Hey Van: You saw the bit about Muther Sheehan wondering if she should ask a soldier guarding New Orleans to shoot her?

You're pretty good with the photoshop. How about creating some "art" with a target superimposed over the witch. We can distribute the "art" to the troops.

Maybe, the left thought they could utilize the Second Amendment to make a comment by means of the First Amendment. Since, the Second Amendment will be the last one of the Bill of Rights the Republicans let fall to revisions of the Patriot act. I can hear the NRA squealing already.

I do not think it will be long until we see headlines similar to these. “Terrorists use assault rifles to mow down Americans.” “Unregistered weapons purchased at a gun show by U.S. National Al Queda.”, “ATF to confiscate assault weapons from law abiding American Citizens.”

A weapon cannot be used appropriately, if it is in the hands of the uninformed.
