New Orleans Mayor Goes Insane

All Headline News reports that Mayor Ray Nagin, "suffering from stress and a bit of paranoia," told CNN that the CIA is going to "wipe him out" for attempting to shift blame for the Katrina chaos onto President Bush.

You can't blame Nagin for feeling stressed. Despite the media predictably using the chaos in New Orleans as a pretext to attack the President, it's getting harder to ignore the fact that the lion's share of blame goes to the utterly useless local governments of Nagin and Governor Blanco:

As the picture becomes much more clear many in Congress believe that a total collapse of communications on the local and state level contributed to the catastrophic conditions the city of New Orleans has been under.
"It has become apparent that after President Bush declared the state of Louisiana a state of emergency a few days before the hurricane hit, communication with the White House and FEMA from city officials in New Orleans and the Governor collapsed," says Senator Dr. Bill Frist, who is currently helping victims with medical needs around the city.

It's doubtful that Nagin's mental problems will cause him to lose his place in line when it comes time to pass out the Federal candy:

"So this 10.8 billion dollar relief bill Congress is getting ready to pass, I hope they pass it quick because we're going to need some of it," Nagin pants.

Why do I get the feeling that, to the extent Nagin and/or Blanco are given control of this money, it will be about as well spent as the fortunes that have been flushed down corrupt dictatorships in Africa?

Thank you Wiggins and Mike for tips.

Wow, no wonder the MSM and Moonbats are trying to pin Katrina rescue problems on Bush; a couple of their beloved socialists are going to get roasted. In typical Moonbat/Liberal style, they'll try to make a shitstorm so big, that the facts get lost... but this is the day of bloggers and sophisticated communication, and it's harder to hide in shitstorms anymore.

An Air Force Logistics Officer Offers a Reality Check

Among his points;

1. Things can get destroyed far more swiftly than they can get fixed.
2. The United States military can wipe out the Taliban and the Iraqi Republican Guard far more swiftly than they can bring 3 million Swanson dinners to an underwater city through an area the size of Great Britain which has no power, no working ports or airports, and a devastated and impassable road network.
3. You cannot speed recovery and relief efforts up by prepositioning assets since the assets are endangered by the very storm which destroyed the region.

Read the whole thing.

Debris Trail hit the nail on the head... It's not just a CYA operation (cover your a**) but it's beat the other guy's a** to take heat off your own.

Can anyone recall the overworked and stressed fire and police officers in New York heading down to Atlantic City after one weeks rescue work after the September 11th attacks?

Nagin is starting to remind me of another Mayor of a predominately black city, Marion Barry. Those two could be twins for their matching levels of corruption, incompetence and blame avoidance.

Sick, that is all I can say. He schmoozes his way to being Mayor of New Orleans and lords it over other mortals but when trouble arrives it is not his fault. Sick.

The Mayor's issues get even deeper. It's clear he had knowledge of the levee breaks at least 12 hours before there was a public announcement.

Even uglier, the original levee break apparently occured five hours before Katrina hit New Orleans, more than 24 hours before they were publicly announced.

He's a former Republican, turned Democrat just before his first election. He's also up for reelection in seven months, the first of several major players in this issue to face the voters in a very tough year.

He's history.

Its been said that that a group of eliet gov't ops killed the police men at the levyes and blew it up to help flood the city. When people tried to help fix the leveys they were orderd to stop and return to their safe spots. I have herd of several allageations and this helps tie in the fact that the Mayor might be assinated because he was probably going to go to public with this info. keep yer eye ball and ears on the look out for suspicious things of this sort. I wuldn't put it past the gov't to sabatog it's self in order to gain power. Like a "land grab". Look at the conspericys behind 9/11 they almost have the same kind of tempo and feeling.

They're out there.

Mayor Ray Nagin,

I think you did a tremendous job during Hurricane Katrina. I stayed here, in Harvey, Louisiana, all the time and saw the unbelievable situations you were faced with.

Now, those with hind sight are telling you what you should have done. If they are so smart, why didn't they come here and help us at the time? I am sure you understand this kind of criticism, but I want you to know I think you did and are doing a great job. Keep up the good work. We are proud of you. Joan Campbell

Joan, sorry to say, I don't think Mayor Nagin reads this blog.
