Hard Times for Leftist Propagandists

Posted by Dave Blount at September 24, 2005 11:03 AM

Air America continues to thrash out in all directions, grasping for whatever cash it can find to sustain its pathetic existence from one day to the next. Leather Penguin (tip from V the K) reports on a fundraising letter they are sending out, begging their handful of listeners to become "Air America Associates" — i.e., to donate money to this corrupt enterprise as though it were a charity. Just like with NPR you get cheesy little "gifts" in return for the money. But unlike NPR, it isn't a tax write-off, and unlike NPR, Air America hasn't been allocated a government teat to suck on when the free market shows the good sense not to sustain it. If you have suffered a head injury that has left you willing to spend $100 on three bumper stickers and a "stylish tote," here's your chance. But hey, this is less pathetic than stealing from a charity.

Fortunately for the leaky boat known as Air America, its like-minded allies in the mainstream media are keeping its scandals quiet, lest the bad publicity it so richly deserves sink it completely. The print Washington Post has apparently never even mentioned the looting of Gloria Wise. The two liberal New York papers, the Times and the Daily News, have barely touched on it, and not since early August.

Unfortunately for Air America, their MSM allies aren't doing well either. NY Times stock hit a new low after their announcement that they are laying off 500 workers. They too seem to be desperate for cash — they are now asking people to pay $49.95 per year for online access to an editorial page that features cartoonish left-wing fools Frank Rich, Thomas Friedman, Paul Krugman, and Maureen Dowd. If they really want people to read this crap, they ought to be paying us. At fifty bucks, they could at least throw in a stylish tote.
