Gaza Synagogue to Be Converted to Terror Weapons Museum

More cheerful news from the abandoned Gaza strip:

Emboldened by Israel's withdrawal from Gaza and part of the West Bank, Hamas yesterday announced its plan to turn a synagogue in Netzarim into a museum that would display weapons employed by the terrorist group's members against Israeli civilians.

The museum will display "Qassam rockets and other locally made arms" that according to Hamas, "evicted the occupation forces." Presumably this would include the sort of bombs used to turn school buses into abattoirs.

Israel has insisted that no armed terror groups participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for January. But whether the Palestinian Authority can or will even seriously try to disarm Hamas remains in question. A joint statement by the USA, European Union, Russia, and UN indicates that an armed-to-the-teeth Hamas has found international acceptance:

We also agreed that ultimately those who want to be part of the political process should not engage in armed group or militia activities.

The operative word here is "ultimately" — bureaucratese for "maybe someday" — which effectively negates the whole sentence.

I wonder if Hamas' new terror weapons museum will charge admission, or if it will rely on subsidies from Western taxpayers.

Thanks to Wiggins for the tip.

Sounds like that "museum" would make a good target.
