Charlie Rangel Opens the Floodgates of Demagoguery

Did Congressman(!) Charles Rangel step over a line when he incongruously compared President Bush to Birmingham's former Police Commissioner Bull Connor, the Democrat who came to personify anti-black bigotry? Not at all. He merely threw down a gauntlet, challenging other race-bating demagogues to see if they could match him for the sheer absurdity of his incendiary rhetoric.

It didn't take long for them to rise to the challenge. NYC Councilman Charles Barron bellowed that the comparison is "an insult to Connor." Al Sharpton intoned that "we've gone from fire hoses to levees" (New Orleans levees were damaged not by Katrina, but by the Bush Administration in order to harm black people, according to the Calypso Louie crowd). Another Congressman(!), Major Owens, declared, "Bull Connor didn't even pretend that he cared about African Americans. You have to give it to George Bush for being even more diabolical."

If anyone has encountered any credible information that President Bush has ever shown any ill intent toward black people, inform the mainstream media immediately. They will be eternally grateful.

Rangel is completely nuts. Always has been. Always will be. The problem is that his base won't call him on it. Rant on, Charlie!!

It was a hoot to see Charlie try to wrangle out of his Bull comment on Hannity & Colmes the other night. Even Colmes was put off by the comment, though he was tossing plenty of softballs to Charlie trying to help spin the clearly race-card comments.

Rangle, Dean, Kerry, Durbin, Pelosi, Schumer,... the list goes on. Keep 'em talking!

Charlie "wrangle" good one TMH.

The overt racism and socialism of looney tune Democrats is getting all to obvious...

The best long term strategy for Republicans is to say as little as possible; with the verbal diarrhia dripping from some of these Dem dorks, you can literally count the votes stacking up for the Republican side.

I don't remember who said it, but, "With Democrats like these you hardly need an offense. Just a camera."

For those not familiar with NYC Councilman Charles Barron - he is a former member of the Black Panthers, a Marxist group with more than just a little bit of violent overtones.

Ironic that Charlie would invoke the name of a racist Democrat to make a hyperbolic point. What's even more ironic is that Connor wasn't some blip on the Democratic radar screen...he actually was a member of the DNC.

Looks like he and Howard Dean have more in common than Howie would like!
