Firefighters Defend Ground Zero From Leftist Kooks

As reported in the New York Post, the sacrilegious scheme to turn Ground Zero into a shrine to moonbattery may have been foiled by NYC's firefighters' union.

Uniformed Firefighters Association President Stephen Cassidy observes that the "International Freedom Center" would "diminish the sacrifices that the 343 members of the FDNY made on 9/11. That is unacceptable." He has sent a letter announcing the UFA's position to World Trade Center Memorial Foundation director Gretchen Dykstra.

Family members of 9/11 victims have been strongly opposed to the IFC and the Drawing Center, both of which are backed by left-wing extremists who apparently want to use Ground Zero as a soapbox from which promote their anti-American ideology.

According to a Post editorial, the UFA's withdrawal of support for the Memorial Foundation "may have ended the threat of institutionalized activism at Ground Zero." Let's hope so. Considering that 343 firefighters died on 9/11, it won't be easy for big-money moonbats to ignore their opposition.

Not that the New York Times is likely to give up without a fight. Predictably, they have thrown their considerable weight behind the IFC, in an attempt to snuff out any feelings of patriotism that may be kindled by a more respectful memorial. But having no moral ground to stand on, they are losing their footing. Accusing Debra Burlingame — the sister of a pilot killed on 9/11 and founder of Take Back the Memorial — of "dictating" to the rest of us is not likely to persuade anyone. Their free speech argument is lamer still. No one is impinging on free speech. The Michael Moore types waiting in the wings with their "cultural centers" have the right to spew whatever vile, terrorist-supporting propaganda they like. But it is simply obscene for them to spew it at Ground Zero.

Maybe construction and design of the 9/11 memorial should be turned over to KBR, as would only be proper. I'm sure they'll come up something that true American patriots can approve of.

Posted by: Fatima at August 17, 2005 12:42 PM

This whole affair stinks.
So what's the deal. This Memorial is to those who went to work on 9/11?
Great.

As long as it's not supposed to be laudatory to freedom we're all set. None of that crappy "why do they hate us?" drivel.

After all what does freedom of speech (by Michael Moore or ANYONE else) have to do with Ground Zero?

Posted by: Robert at August 17, 2005 12:46 PM

Yes, much better we create something that shows our intolerance and hatred of brown people

Posted by: madmatt at August 17, 2005 1:05 PM

I don't get it. How hard is it to come up with a memorial to all those who perished in 911. Any political half-wit knows that a good memorial will withstand the changing political currents of the ages. To make a memeorial a Moonbat soapbox is not only disgusting, it's a slap in the face to all future Americans. Everyone, whether Moonbat or "normal" should feel heart ache, and pride, when they visit the memorial. If I ever go there from Canada, I expect to feel my heart tugged at, in memory of the EMS personnel who died and the civilians who just wanted to make a living for themselves yet were caught in some Islamos brainless hate. As well, I expect to feel pride for all Americans.

I am amazed more everyday, of how Moonbat logic is slipping into some sort of neo-communist or socialist mentality that doesn't only hate America, it hates Liberal Democracy in general.

In their effort to show how "sensitive" they are, Moonbats are coming off as almost sociopathic in heartlessness.

Sorry, Leftie-Loonies ...

Ground Zero is OURS.

Take your anti-patriotism somewhere it's welcome. May I suggest Canada?

RWR, let's make it France. Some of my most valued readers are from Canada. Besides, Canada isn't far enough away.

Posted by: Van Helsing at August 17, 2005 6:13 PM

Wouldn't France make a great Palestinian homeland?

I mean, the lefties like to claim that Israel represents a European colony on Arab lands. So lets even it out. Put all five million (or three million) Palestinians into an Israel-sized piece of France.

Surely the French would be willing to accommodate this arrangement, in the interests of peace.

Posted by: V the K at August 17, 2005 6:27 PM

Any politicizing of 9/11 is near blasphemous.

What next? A "Freedom March" at the Pentagon? "I raq and Roll" by Clint Black? A "celebration" of 9/11 that links bin Laden to Iraq?

nah, conservatives have better taste than that, right?

Posted by: Ryan at August 17, 2005 6:39 PM

Hey my little righwing retards. Just thought I'd stop by the hate-bin and see what bad karma you were bringing down on yourselves. I'm the wife of a NY firefighter and i am just so sick of your little whitebread mentality. If you can't even handle the IDEA of the POSSIBILITY of what you consider to be a n unpatriotic thought (IE The Freedom Center), then you obviously DON"T UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF FREEDOM. I'd just like to say you SUCK if you can't get your head out of your ass with regard to the "ownership" of 9-11. You probably watched it safe from the confines of your giant fucking 50" TV and didn't have a freaking clue to know what it was REALLY LIKE to wander the streets of lower manhattan on 9-11. FUCK YOU. You don't even UNDERSTAND the IDEA of America. You deserver to be born in Sudan. You have the political enlightenment of FLEAS. Go to hell.

Stated like a true moonbat, Laura: vulgar, incoherent, and with a total lack of understanding as to how to use the Shift key. By the way, I was in Lower Manhattan on 9/11, so no one should be allowed to challenge me on this topic, right?

V the K, thanks for the picture. That's just about how I envisioned our friend Rob, complete with shifty eyes and an empty smirk.

You’re Right! Please forgive me!

I confess! I do hate freedom! I do hate America! I curse the founding fathers for codifying my liberal misery with a Constitution. Sweet merciful God I confess! I do hate all American soldiers and some of the British too! I am so very, very ashamed… but

what the hell, I may as well have some fun abusing the freedom and lifestyle I so despise.

Hey Van, you dog – the Valentine posting was double secret super clever, here I thought you saved all your cut & paste skills for the RNC talking points… once again, I’ve been a fool. Think maybe I could give it a try?

Okay - I’ll just Google “Prescott Bush and Nazis” and damn, there’s a lot here… but how do I choose, there’s nothing by Rush or Michelle or Jeffrey and the Wikipidia entries seem kind of conscientious… but then… what would “The Man” think if I didn’t even try.

Heck, I, uh, you know… welcome a challenge and by that - I mean... I, uh, you know… welcome a challenge!

Okay, check out this honest to Condi, genuine U.S. Government document/source:

Trading With the Enemy Act. In October 20, 1942, the U.S. government ordered the seizure of Nazi German banking operations in New York City.

Prescott Bush's business interests were seized under the act in October and November 1942 included: Union Banking Corporation (UBC) (for Thyssen and Brown Brothers Harriman) Holland-American Trading Corporation (with Harriman)
Seamless Steel Equipment Corporation (with Harriman)
Silesian-American Corporation (with Walker)
Bush's interest in UBC consisted of one share. For it, he was reimbursed $1,500,000. These assets were later used to launch Bush family investments in the Texas energy industry.

okay business is business even if it's nazi business, so the u.s. ponies up 1.5 mil to reimburse the boy's losses... how would he have made had the Nazi's won? Never mind, it's time to smear a leftist kook!

I suppose it is reasonable to assume that at least some of the profits from those investments ended up in the pockets of “The Man” and we know he bought a “ranch” so it wouldn’t be huge stretch for someone to “report”…

"COMPOUND USED BY SHEEHAN AS POLITICAL HEADQUARTERS FINANCED BY NAZI WAR PROFITS"

Any Rangerettes out there looking to make your bones? Run with it… hell, maybe Van will give you a Photoshop tutorial – the dude is monster! The art department at the Onion ain’t got nothing on “The Gogh”- alright if I call you that Van? The Gogh? I mean surely you’ve been itchin’ for a nickname and I believe Hannity got
"mosquito dick" from "The Man", anyway let me know.

More from my Google search:

…there are further unsubstantiated rumors concerning Prescott Bush's associations with the Nazi party…
The rumors began with extreme right-wing attacks on George H.W. Bush during his 1980 vice-presidential campaign and were renewed during his 1988 presidential campaign.

UH OH!

I can only imagine what your patriot/predecessors might say about the critical thinking skills being displayed by their right wing spawn here in Moonbat…

Mission Accomplished?

See? I want to change and when I am out there blaming America first, please remember that I do not blame all Americans first… I mean, uh, not the real Americans… I mean, uh…sorry, you know what I mean and by that I mean, I do not mean you… you know, Jinkies Uncle Dick, this is hard work.

Pray for me brothers. I’m trying so hard to get in step - but can’t seem to stop myself from favoring criminals over victims or believing that child molesters and terrorists need therapy and I can’t seem to stop visiting Jeffrey’s old website even though his new one really gets the straight story! Uh, let me re-phrase…

Yours in shame,

Kelly L. Scott: you need a beer.

Bad.

Posted by: The MaryHunter at August 17, 2005 10:36 PM

Is just me, or was that completely incoherent?

My advice: Put. The Bong. Down.

Posted by: V the K at August 17, 2005 10:37 PM

Now that’s what I’m talking about! Rapier like rejoinders from the new Republicans!
Put down the bong? Have a beer? Gee people, I was only trying to help. I don’t think incoherent was a legitimate comment, rambling perhaps but inco….
Oh, wait a minute… ‘Dubya said he doesn’t “do nuance” so naturally you wouldn’t either. My bad, let me break it down for you Mary.
Van “The Gough” juxtaposed a picture of Cindy Sheehan with David Duke on a Valentine – high concept to be sure, but I bet you still got it. I thought I would point out that you probably don’t want to play the Nazi card since Dubya’s grandfather had very real and verifiable business ties to Nazi Germany. No big deal, but when Dubya’s daddy wanted to be Vice-President, your predecessors- the early practitioners of Right Wing Slime started a campaign inferring that the ties went further than just profiteering - whispering about the Bush Clan being Nazi sympathizers… Absolute bullshit of course, but when has that ever stopped any real patriotic right-wing kool-aide drinker from spreading their bile? So you see, I was trying to warn you off the Nazi angle so you could avoid any unintended consequences like opening old wounds for “The Man”.
But seriously, please don’t make fun of my keyboarding skills or worse- call me out as being vulgar… remember kids, hypocrisy can hurt.

Respectfully.

Most troll turds are incoherent, it's the nature of the ideology...facts never bother leftists.

Posted by: Cao at August 18, 2005 5:58 AM

What's absolutely idiotic to me is blaming Bush's grandfather for his current policies because he held a share in a bank that the Germans deposited money in BEFORE he war. Pretty big stretch.

Let's take a look at Ted Kennedy working with the Russians to understand their gun control rhetoric so he can import it home. Or leaving Mary Jo in his oldsmobile to die.

At least you could bring up something that is current instead of ancient history.

Joe Kennedy told FDR not to fight Hitler...but there's a laundry list of things that Theodore himself has done.

Is that the best you can do--talk about something you think Prescott Bush is guilty of from 1920. Prescott Bush is dead, my dear girl.

Investigations into these allegations have cleared Prescott Bush; he just owned 1 measly share of the bank which was worth about $125.00 at the time.

You guys are so desperate with the Bushitler meme that you're willing to dredge up ancient history about Bush's great-grandfather to somehow make him a nazi? You've got to be kidding me.

John Kerry is a jew, his ancestors changed their name by dropping a pencil on a map of Ireland. (looks like deception is an inherent trait in that family) So why aren't you people picketing his office and screaming about Israel and "free palestine"?

You people are nuts.

Posted by: Cao at August 18, 2005 6:07 AM

Folks, you're being too mean to poor Kelly. She means well, so you cannot attack her. And she's a female, too, so like Cindy Sheehan, you're not allowed to say anything bad about her insane ramblings, because you're an evil male. Cao, you can't say bad things because you're a victim of brainwashing of evil males.

When you do lots of drugs, your brain tends to melt and critical pathways from one part of your brain to others disappear. That's why the logical mind cannot make sense of the various random ramblings. I will attempt to help explain:

First, Kelly started talking about a picture from a different post in this post. That's because when her drug-addled mind saw the picture, it got imprinted in her brain somewhere other than conscious thought...so she forgot about it. However, while typing about drugs, a random pathway led back to that image in her mind, so somehow her fingers typed about that post.

Then, her random neurons led her to her deeply held political beliefs and her hero, Adolph Hitler. Her mind never realized that there was no connection there, but the drug-modified pathways made a clear connection -- in her mind.

Next, she claims that since H. Bush wanted to be vice president that the other members of the "Bush clan" decided that he didn't, so they started to compare Bush to Nazis. Ok, so even I cannot make the connection between those dots -- only a true experienced drug-smoker can follow that logic.

Finally, there was a slight moment of coherence, as the standard left diversionary tactic that's been practiced by those on the left for decades kicked in: don't you dare call me vulgar! That's the standard tactic of all leftists -- do something bad, then claim that no one else can do it, blame everyone else, claim that everyone else IS already doing it, and that if you point out the hypocrisy, you're resorting to personal attacks, even if they are already doing that, too.

Do moonbats always settle debate on the basis on who hurls the most grade school insults, uses the worst punctuation, and constructs the most unlikely tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories?

That might explain why they keep losing.

Posted by: V the K at August 18, 2005 8:11 AM

VtheK would be a great fit at Fox news; taking bits of discussion out of context and juggling them like red balls is what they do best as well.

Your wingnut camp is thinning, folks. Better get a new war started before the fear machine runs out of gas. I do enjoy your hypocrisy, though, like when you mention how idiotic it is to bring up elderbush and tie him to minibush, only to start ranting like a rabid cat about past democratic issues. Nicely done.

Posted by: Rob B. at August 18, 2005 8:43 AM

Reading the moonbat rhetoric above puts something in perspective:

Don't liberals claim to be compassionate and tolerant and yadayadayada? Yep, I sure see the compassion and tolerance oozing from them before my very eyes.

For "compassionate" people, they sure seem to be pretty damned miserable in life, don't they?

But they're just soooo kyute...des dey are!

Robbie, David Duke wants to give you a hug.

Posted by: V the K at August 18, 2005 10:01 AM

Robbie does have a point though. The ranks of the far, far right are getting thinner as the Nazis, Klansman, and Jew-hating whacko fringe defect to join their anti-war brethren on the left, as this artice points out. Seems the extreme left and the extreme right found they have a lot in common, except the far left whackos actually run their party while the GOP has locked its far right fringe out of power. Howard Dean runs the Democrat party, and they have an unapologetic Klansman as their "Dean of the Senate." Whereas Pat Robertson has no position in the GOP, and David Duke might as well be a night clerk at a 7-11 in Shreveport.

So, yeah, the herd is being thinned ... of racists, kooks, and Jew-haters who are joining up with the Moonbat left. Good riddance to them.

I am very proud that the firefighters have stood up to these insufferable goons. You lefists are nothing but a bunch sociapaths! No proud American or anyone with any decency would allow a hate America monument to ground zero. That is crazy! But given you all's track record I shouldn't be surprised!going around supporting people that would soon to slit your throat as they would anybody else's;Explain this dimwitted logic to me lefties. And yes,the looney left has taken over the Dems and they are also destroying it.I know one thing, when a third party comes about I suggest making it mandatory not to let any leftwingers in nor accept money from them,if anyone does that, you get tossed out on your butts for that.

Posted by: Lisa Gilliam at August 18, 2005 11:31 AM

In the name of God, how stupid are you people? Can you read? Republicans smeared the Bush family as Nazi sympathizers. That was the point it. The smear was bullshit, conservative smear bullshit. You all remind me of Michael Jackson fans, the worse your man performs, the more hysterical you become in his defense. By the way genius, assuming someone's gender based on their name can be a bad idea, probably a little abstract for you to understand but that’s not my problem. Have some more of the green kool-aide and don’t forget to get your shots.

but there already is a memorial to moral equivalance and appeasement in NYC....

it's called the United Nations.

Let's put the IFC on land near the entrance so issues like Bosina, Rwanda, Sudan, and other failures of the world body can be daily reminders to what they are supposed to be preventing there in Turtle Bay.

We can then call the avenue in front of the IFC the Oil-for-Palaces Parkway....
