Even NY Times Confirms No Link Between Katrina and Global Warming
On the off chance that anyone saner than Robert F. Kennedy Jr. or Germany's Environment Minister takes the "global warming caused Katrina" meme seriously, I will take the unusual step of referring readers to the New York Times:
Because hurricanes form over warm ocean water, it is easy to assume that the recent rise in their number and ferocity is because of global warming.
But that is not the case, scientists say. Instead, the severity of hurricane seasons changes with cycles of temperatures of several decades in the Atlantic Ocean. The recent onslaught "is very much natural," said William M. Gray, a professor of atmospheric science at Colorado State University who issues forecasts for the hurricane season.

And the New Duranty Times lies again...
it is easy to assume that the recent rise in their number and ferocity is because of global warming.
Except for there is no "rise" in either number or "ferocity".
Just keep repeating to yourselves- Multiple, overlapping layers of fact-checking...

*whew* Thank God for the Old Gray Hag.
Kennedy should be dragged out and _____ (fill in) for saying what he said about Katrina and Bush/Barbour. Just like a Kennedy, I guess. No class, no grace, no brains, no humanity, too much money. Way bad combo.

Well, environmental extremism is the religion of the left, and every religion needs a devil. I mean, we can't drill in ANWR --- never mind that the place is a hellhole and the real environmental impact would be negligible -- but just because it is "sacred" to the environmental left. Not to mention, much of what the left believes about Global Warming is superstition, not science. They even have their own Myth of the Apocalypse, The Day After Tomorrow.

According to Sidney Blumenthal, it is Bush's fault:

And the waters haven't even settled yet...

V the K: one of my Geology professors (in a Natural Disasters class) dedicated three class meetings @ 2 hours each to ripping apart "The Day After Tomorrow" in its entirety. She'd play about 2 minutes of the film, then write feverishly on the board about what was wrong with what they just said. Pissed off about half the class, too...
