DNC: Bush Deprives Youth of Physical Fitness
Posted by Dave Blount at August 2, 2005 1:43 PM
According to the Democratic National Committee, President Bush has weighing upon his conscience the responsibility for depriving American youth of physical fitness.
As any true liberal could tell you, pudgy children who huff and puff after climbing a flight of stairs are not the result of a society decayed by liberalism to the point that you don't dare let them run around outdoors, but to a lack of sufficient funding for federal programs.
Bush has a responsibility to "make sure that all American children have access to physical fitness programs," declared DNC spokesman Josh Earnest. The reader can decide whether he was earnest, or this was just a josh. Needless to say these programs must be entirely "free" — that is, paid for in full by taxpayers who may or may not be deriving any benefit from them.
The DNC is also outraged that Bush has weakened the Title IX rules that have had such a devastating impact on college athletics. According to the Dems, "The new rules allow colleges to demonstrate that they are satisfying the demand for women's sports with an online survey showing that female students have no unmet sports interests." This clearly won't do. More men's wrestling programs need to be terminated immediately to address the historic grievances of fair sex.
The same DNC press release then goes on to hyperventilate over allegedly skyrocketing childhood obesity rates. The implication is that Bush bears the blame, presumably because there are too few federal calisthenics programs, unless I missed a connection to his easing of the Title IX gender warfare foolishness. Maybe Bush failed to institute new programs to teach children how to eat properly.
