Deborah Johns: The Anti-Sheehan
In all the excitement of the media's Cindy Sheehan hypefest, a few stories are getting left by the wayside. Here's an example:
Supporters of U.S. Involvement in Iraq Plan Caravans to Texas
The anti-war protest by a Vacaville mother outside the president's Texas ranch is galvanizing some who support the country's continued involvement in Iraq. One of those is a serviceman's mother who feels now more than ever the country must stand strong behind the troops.
Roseville resident Deborah Johns' son William is a Marine stationed in Iraq. She sympathizes with Cindy Sheehan, the anti-war protester who lost her son to enemy fire 16 months ago. However, Johns believes a pull-out now would negate what troops are fighting for in Iraq. She takes exception to Sheehan's protest and plans to do something about it.
"It absolutely mushroomed, but that's our liberal media," said Johns. "They continue to like to hear the negative and not the positive that's going on." Johns is organizing what could be hundreds of others to participate in a caravan leaving San Francisco on Monday. The caravan is destined for Crawford, Texas, in a gesture of support for President George W. Bush.
Johns believes it's important to demonstrate her support for the course Bush has chosen. "If God took my son and called him home, I would continue to stand behind my military men and women and I would continue to support my president of the United States," she said.
Sheehan's protest has also been fodder for conservative talk radio, which is urging listeners to join a number of caravans being organized by Move America Forward, a conservative Sacramento-based organization that, according to its website, is dedicated to supporting the troops and the fight against terrorism.

How can you support one mother who lost a son in war and not another?
Both women have the right to say and believe whatever they want -- part of what their sons died for.
No one has earned the right to free speech more than a Gold Star mother, whether it's Johns or Sheehan.
God Bless them both.

No one has any less right to Free Speech either.
And with the right to free speech comes the responsibility for taking criticism for the things you say. (Especially when as is the case with Mother Sheehan, you rant about Jewish neo-con conspiracies and refer to Bush as the "Fuhrer").

Here's an interesting sidepoint. The lefties are going around putting up fields of crosses and such with soldiers' names on them in many cases, they don't have the permission of the soldiers' familiaes to use their names that way. Is that right?

Cindy Leads a Lefty Out of the Wilderness
I actually felt myself become a republican today. It was around 10am, when I read the latest update of the Cindy Sheehan saga in CNN.com. I then shot over to read some blogs about it, and perused the comments in some of them, which was nothing but a long series of petty (albeit entertaining) partisan bickering. Then it happend. The good little democrat in me tied the little noose around his neck and jumped off the stool. He just couldn’t take it anymore.
Take what? The whining. The constant whining by the extreme left about the reasons for war, the incompetence of this administration, and how we’ve all been lied to, and how we should pull out of Iraq immediately, because, *gulp* our soldiers were in danger.
Posted by: V the K at August 18, 2005 5:16 PM
Maybe somebody should put up 300,000 crosses for the civilians that Saddam killed. Then, just to get the point across, they should put up about 1,000,000 or so to represent the cost in Iraqi and Iranian soldiers that Saddam's little wars cost.
There is no such thing as free speech. Casey Sheehan paid with his life so that Iraqis can have "free" speech. Tens of thousands of service people paid with their lives during WW2, so that Europeans could have "free" speech. Many died so that South Koreans could have "free" speech. And the list goes on.
And, like some of you have said, free speech goes both ways and always comes with consequences. When you lie and shovel bullshit like Cindy is doing, you'd better be ready to pay the price. Some of our Canadian bloggers have been following this and literaly gutting her idiotic statements. She lies, she uses completly false facts, and is supported by America's greatest Guano poopers. It's pretty sad when even Canadian bloggers rip you apart; because a majority of Canadians are very anti-Bush and anti-Iraq war. Cindy is a pathetic, low intelligence, grieving mother gone nuts, and the Moonbats have moved in like vampires to crap their guano at her expense. I'd be willing to bet that Cindy will wake up from this some day and be utterly dismayed at what she's lost; not only a son, but a whole family. I HATE MOONBATS who prey on the downtrodden while pretending to defend them. They are the greatest of scum.

Don't need permission. Conservatives used that argument to keep the names off the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, too.
The names are a matter of public record. They are part of history and no one owns them.
The left will continue to honor our troops while the right continues to drive pickup trucks over Flags and Crosses dedicated to those who've sacrificed their lives for this country.

The left honoring the troops. thats a laugh. A lot of people who had a loved one die In iraq, have been going over there and taking the crosses out of the ground that have there names on it.
Sheehan says bush does'nt have a right to use her sons name but they dont have the right use every dead soldier for their blood dance.
Posted by: Rhett at August 19, 2005 3:55 PM
Yeah, the left is totally into honoring the troops who, in Mother Moonbat's words, are bringing "flag-waving death and destruction" wherever they tread. (And when asked by Tony Snow if her son had participated in the murder of Iraqi civilians, she answered, "Well, he had only been in Iraq for five days." In other words, he hadn't gotten around to it yet.)
Maybe Randy is stupid enough to think the left was 'honoring the troops' (a field in Texas seems an odd place to do that) rather than exploiting them to advance their anti-war agenda, but the rest of us are smarter than that.
Posted by: V the K at August 19, 2005 4:04 PM
And, apparently, the parent's of the troops the lefties are putting on the crosses aren't stupid either.
“On CNN’s Your World Today, Gary Qualls, the father of Louis W. Qualls, held up the white cross bearing his son’s name, which he pulled out of the ground where Cindy Sheehan and her followers had placed it without his permission. He told YWT anchor Jim Clancy, “Not once did they ever ask me if they could use my son’s name.” He spoke of his son’s sacrifice, of how his son believed in what he was doing, and how Cindy Sheehan doesn’t speak for him.

Confederate Yankee has an interesting little bit, including a link to a transcript of a caller relating a Sheehan experience in Crawford:
"I saw them go over and just about attack a young girl who was very distraught because her brother had died in Iraq, and they had all those crosses up, and his name was on the cross. So the mother and the sister came out to remove that. They didn't want him to be a part of that, and so they encircled her, tried to stop her from being able to get the cross, she finally did. They were just about at the point of attacking her, told her that her brother was a murderer, that he had killed innocent people, and that he died for nothing."

Hey, how's that for honoring the troops, Randy?
Also, the left's love for the troops is so intense that (a) military votes break down about 70% - 30% for Republicans (why would that be, hmmm?); and (b) Gore fought like hell to disqualify military votes in FL in 2000, all while piously asking to "count every vote!"
I tell ya, it just jerks a tear from the ol' eyes to see such a deeply rooted love that libs have for our soldiers!
Posted by: Jonathan at August 19, 2005 10:42 PM
Ah, urban legends and the great myth about Al Gore trying to discredit military votes.
The left honors the war dead. The left backs benefits for war wounded -- even as the White House and the right propose cuts to their health care.
So what if some people want to take down the crosses with their kids' names on them. The stand off probably wouldn't have happened if Larry Northern hadn't trashed a memorial to them. How were the folks there to know they didn't have some more vandals on their hands.
In the meantime, opposition to the Iraq War grows and Bush only has 50% approval in 9 states. Meanwhile,
Here's a letter about the attack on the crosses from an Iraq War vet:
Mr. Northern:
I am a Veteran of the Iraq war, having served with the 4th Infantry Division on the initial invasion with Force Package One.
While I was in Iraq,a very good friend of mine, Christopher Cutchall, was killed in an unarmoredHMMWV outside of Baghdad. He was a cavalry scout serving with the 3d ID.Once he had declined the award of a medal because Soldiers assigned to him did not receive similar awards that he had recommended. He left two sons and awonderful wife. On Monday night, August 16, you ran down the memorial cross erected for him by Arlington West.
One of my Soldiers in Iraq was Roger Turner. We gave him a hard time because he always wore all of his protective equipment, including three pairs of glasses or goggles. He did this because he wanted to make sure that he returned home to his family. He rode a bicycle to work every day to make sure that he was able to save enough money on his Army salary to send his son to college. At Camp Anaconda, where the squadron briefly stayed, a rocket landed inside a tent, sending a piece of debris or fragment into him and killed him. On Monday night, August 16, you ran down the memorial cross erected for him by Arlington West.
One of my Soldiers was Henry Bacon. He was one of the finest men I ever met. He was in perfect shape for a man over forty, working hard at night. He told me that he did that because he didn't have much money to buy nice things for his wife, who he loved so much, so he had to be in good shape for her. He was like a father to many young men in his section of maintenance mechanics. They fixed our vehicles with almost no support and fabricated parts and made repairs that kept our squadron rolling on the longest, fastest armor advance ever made under fire. He was so very proud of his son-in-law that married the beautiful daughter so well raised by Henry. His son-in-law was a helicopter pilot with the 1st Cavalry Division, who died last year. Henry stopped to rescue a vehicle belonging to another unit on what was to be his last day in Iraq. He could have kept rolling - he was headed to Kuwait after a year's tour. But he stopped. He could have sent others to do the work, but he was on the ground, leading by example, when he was killed. On Monday night, August 16, you took it upon yourself to go out in the country, where a peaceful group was exercising their constitutional rights, and harming no one, and you ran down the memorial cross erected for Henry and for his son-in-law by Arlington West.
Mr. Northern - I know little about Cindy Sheehan except that she is a grieving mother, a gentle soul, and wants to bring harm to no one. I know little about you except that you found your way to Crawford on Monday night in August with chains and a pipe attached to your truck for the sole purpose of dishonoring a memorial erected for my friends and lost Soldiers and hundreds of others that served this nation when they were called. I find it disheartening that good men like these have died so that people like you can threaten a mother who lost a child with your actions. I hope that you are ashamed of yourself.

The guy is right about one thing- He does'nt know much about cindy sheehan. I'm from Crawford and heard her spew some of her anti-american rhetoric. It's no surprise that people from here want them out of there.

Ah, urban legends and the great myth about Al Gore trying to discredit military votes.
Sorry the facts suck for you, Head Case. Does the name Mark Herron ring a bell for you? He's the Tallahassee ambulance chaser that Gore hired to disqualify military votes.
It's well documented. Then again, ostrich syndrome seems to be your ailment, so I doubt you'll check the facts.

mrs sheehen is no american the things she said made my family mad ! of course she has lost someone. but so has so many other familes. lets not forget the military people in the past that fought for our freedom. my grandfather fought in world war 1 aganist his family in europe. to protect freedom and the united states. my uncle fought during the war during world war two. I have family that lived in germany and they survived, the list of military goes on in my family. now I have 4 people that have fought in this warI'm proud of each one of them, and thankful to all the other military that wants to fight for all our freedom. mrs sheehen is dis honoring those past and today military. maybe sheshould live over there to see how it is and what it is like to not have freedom. my grandfather told me stories about how his father and mother lived with no freedom and rights before world war one, and my family that surived the world war 2. they are glad for the soliders that came and set them free. this made me proud ! I have lost friends and loved ones from the last gulf war, but I support them, and I support this country. the people that are not for america like mrs sheehen should think about what if it was over here ! would she be willing to fight for her and family or will she just let them get her ! are any of these anit protesters ready for a war over here ! will they fight. my mom worries about that every day. what will happened to her great grandchildren that are babies. she worries about her grand children fighting this war. but she glad and pruod that they are fighting for her freedom and thier familes.

First off, Cindy lost a child. You have to feel sympathetic for her. But the repubs don't see that the public is coming around and asking "Why?". Just answer that question and there'd be more support to this war (maybe). I'm just glad we got Bin Laden, right? He was the one who did the terrorist attack, and with Bush's great tactics we can say we stopped him from ever trying that again. Ahhh. Why are libs look at as evil for bring up the We Didn't Get Bin Laden problem. It was the first thing to do, not Iraq. No one cared about Iraq until the WMD and we all know how that turned out.
Lastly, anyone who calls me unpatriotic is grossly misconceived. My great-great grandfather to my father fought in a war and I'm very proud of them. My uncles fought in wars. I am always in favor of America, but I can't support this war in Iraq just because some moron will call me anti-american if I don't. Look at the facts people, No WMD, No Bin Laden, No decrease in terrorist numbers, No decrease in gas prices, No Explainations.
Thank you for your time and God Bless this great country.

deborah johns, you are a sad soul, and a loser. i would love to talk to you in two or five years from now, when the truth is out for everybody. saddam hussein was going to flood europe, china, and russia with his cheap oil after the sanctions were lifted. then your liar murderer president came up with '"weapons of mass destruction," the "nuclear, chemical and biological weapons," NOT ONE WHICH WAS EVER ,EVER FOUND. saddam was "poised to attack us" with them, yeah right. AMERICA BOUGHT IT, CONNECTING THE LIES WITH 9/11, suckers. NOW THE 1800 DEAD, DIED FOR NOTHING, JUST LIKE VIETNAM. we lost vietnam for this simple reason, IT MEANT WAR WITH RED CHINA AND RUSSIA WHO WERE SUPPLYING THE NORTH VIETNAMESE WITH ALL THE ARMS. but in deborah's little screwed mind, it was the "war protesters" who made us "lose" that war. THERE WAS A "DEMILITARIZED ZONE" BABE, WE COULDN'T CROSS IT, kind of like world war two, and the generals said, invade germany but by the way, DON'T CROSS OR FIRE OVER THE RHINE, IT'S "DEMILITARIZED". sad, pathetic fools who believe in a liar murderer bush. history will prove me right, but how sad of the dead, they cannot PROTEST.

Face it is righties, party is almost over. Too bad your boy GWBS and friends have pretty much ruined America, by 2008...it may be too late... but we'll try and clean up the mess for ya. Keep squirming, I love it. You're losing steam and your frustration shows. Good luck, Enemies!

What is the pay-off for Johns fronting a media making rather than reporting the news "event"?
Does her LIVE son get an "early out" from Iraq?
KFSO, owned by ABC7, owned by whom, and where do their loyalties lie?
Oh, and BTW, Move America Forward is not Johns' organization, it was never grassroots as Sheehan's was, and I personally believe that Johns is just a wholly owned subsidiary of a talk radio hack.

Deborah JOhns does not have the moral authority to challenge Cindy Sheehan's view of this ignoble war..yet. When she has actually lost a child in that same ignoble cause...then her tears will be justified and her support for the noble cause can be ascertained...only then..not until......otherwise they are crocodile tears smudging the estee lauder.
