London's Moonbat Mayor
You can't expect a guy known as "Red Ken" to step up the way Rudy Giuliani did in New York, but London's mayor Ken Livingston is really getting to be an embarrassment.
Breaking a political truce that had held since the 7/7 attacks, Livingston announced that the Islamic terrorist attacks on Britain's population are the fault not of Islamic terrorism, but of British foreign policy. Throwing all shame to the wind, he also implicated the USA, by claiming that the obsequious coddling terrorists have enjoyed at Club Gitmo, distorted by his fellow leftists in the media into torture, riled up Muslims to the point that they resorted to the unprecedented use of random violence against innocent civilians.
Rather than try to rise to the level of his proud country, Livingston attempted to drag it down, accusing his fellow Brits of being no better than terrorists. According to Livingston, if subjected to the sort of abuse he claims (without substantiation) the West has inflicted on Muslims, "we would have produced a lot of suicide bombers ourselves."
Although it's tempting to dismiss Livingston's remarks as the schizophrenic ravings of a contemptible fool, according to The Scotsman (thanks to Bergbikr for the link), the Labour Party's back benches harbor more than a few who agree with him. Like our own Dick Durbin, Livingston is not a lone lunatic but the tip of a terrifying iceberg of deranged self-hatred that has come to exert a great deal of influence on — if not thoroughly dominate — the Left. No matter what sort of despicable antisocial acts are performed in the world, you can be sure leftists will find a way to trace back the blame to the Western Civilization they so clearly despise — and in the process provide critical propaganda support to the enemy.

Mustang has a nice little ditty on treason today at Social Sense, perhaps Livingston should read it. He seems rather on the edge.

of course u.s. policy has contributed to terrorism... not just recent policies, not just republican policies... but american foreign policy in general. i certainly don't expect you to acknowledge it but i think there's plenty of evidence.
whatever. i've given up on communication. you'll believe what you believe, liberals will believe what they believe, and folks like me will believe what we believe... i'm not even sure why i bother to write comments anymore. does not seem like we are very good at communicating, learning, etc.
for the record i'm not a liberal or a democrat... not a republican, libertarian. i did not support clinton and certainly do not support bush. point being, i think the american system is rotten to the core and no political "party" is the solution.

I couldn't agree more with you. Excellent piece of writing.

Thank you for having this blog. It seems as if a lot of people have forgotton. We need to keep the patriotism that existed for such a short time after 9/11.

Maybe Red Ken can hang out with the Moonbat Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania, who Crashed a Soldier's Funeral, Handed Out Business Cards, and Told Grieving Relatives that Pennsylvania's government was, "Against this war."
The family of a Marine who was killed in Iraq is furious with Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll for showing up uninvited at his funeral this week, handing out her business card and then saying "our government" is against the war.She sat down next to a Goodrich family member and, during the distribution of communion, said, "Who are you?" Then she handed the family member one of her business cards, which Goodrich said she still has.
What really upset the family, Goodrich said, is that Knoll said, 'I want you to know our government is against this war,' " Goodrich said.

Good'ol Ken! I was wondering how long it would take him to puke up his brand of "root cause" screed. And, true to form... guess what ladies and gentlemen... it's the BIG, BAD, USA. The good news is, it seems like the British mood is changing and that the Liberal Socialist "root cause" dogma is coming to an end, unless of course the boys and girls from Lefty Land are willing to face the fact that a genuine search for "root causes" just may turn up a real root cause... ISLAMO FASCISM!
