Educrats Consider Banning the Word "Fail"

The BBC reports an amusing example of politically correct moonbats employing techniques from out of 1984 to strong-arm the English language into describing a world more to their liking. This week at England's Professional Association of Teachers annual conference, retired primary school teacher Liz Beattie is expected to propose a motion that the word "fail" should be "deleted from the educational vocabulary"; the term "deferred success" is to be used in its place.

The proposal has already succeeded in provoking a lively philosophical debate. If a tree falls in a forest, does anyone hear it if we've banned the word "fall"? If a educrat opens his/her mouth to let loose a stream of touchy-feely postmodern lunacy, would anyone notice if we've banned the word "fool"?

Obviously, if there is no such thing as failure, there is no such thing as success. If there is no such thing as success, why bother exerting yourself?

It will be a great step forward for Western Civilization when moonbats take over sports the way they have taken over education. At last there will be no more agony of defeat. Every game will be declared a tie. There won't be any injuries either, because why would anyone exert enough energy to risk injury when there is no danger of losing and consequently no hope of winning?

Maybe Ms. Beattie is onto something. What's the point of putting forth the effort to succeed in school when you might end up on welfare anyway because there are no jobs available in a European economy crippled by creeping socialism? You might as well settle for "deferred success" — that way you can spend your schooldays more enjoyably, cutting class or throwing spitballs at the teacher. After you graduate, having learned nothing, you will at least be qualified to join the education bureaucracy.
