DU Response to London Attacks

Appallingly, but not surprisingly, there are dhimmis on the Left blaming Blair and Bush for the terrorist atrocities that took place in London yesterday. In the wake of the attacks, Democratic Underground started off a thread with this:

LONDON - At least 40 people were killed in the explosions that ripped through three London subway trains and a bus on Thursday, according to a U.S. law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity because British officials have yet to make public the death toll.
The near simultaneous explosions caused at least 300 injuries in what Prime Minister Tony Blair said was a "barbaric" terrorist attack.

Here are a few choice excerpts from the responses:

Yes, Blair, "barbaric," just like the daisy-cutter bombs you and yours dropped on innocent people in Iraq. As Richard Clark had predicted, your preemptive attack on Iraq--and your little buddy's, the Chimp--has brought more terror on the world, not less. Wake the hell up. You brought this on all of us.

By the same reasoning, Winston Churchill can be blamed for the Battle of Britain. After all, if he had just rolled over without a fight like the French, the Germans wouldn't have dropped all those bombs. Why did he stubbornly refuse to work his way into nice Mr. Hitler's good graces, after having the rudeness to preemptively declare war on Germany?

This one is revealing:

I am so very sorry our criminal president has dragged you into this. (If it does indeed turn out to be AQ-related)

In other words, if al Qaeda did it, it's Bush's fault — presumably because of the campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq. This suggests that even moonbats understand the connection between 9/11 and the war in Iraq; they just don't understand which side started the conflict, or which side is the bad guys.

Here's some of the willfully simplistic moral equivalence Brian Williams has shown such a gift for:

even on this morning, there is a war in iraq taking the lives of ordinary citizens, just like the ones in london. as the poster said: violence begets violence. whether it's bombs dropped by the USA or suicide bombers: the dead are still dead.

On the bright side, some comments suggest that a few flickers of reason might remain on the Left. Here's an encouraging remark:

Anyone here who attempts to justify suicide bombings politically is not worth debating.

One Democrat (identified by a donkey logo) had the insight to post this:

We must convince the country that we can be trusted to defend it, until we do we will keep losing on the national level. Many comments I have heard and read today do not help us at all. God help this divided country.

Overall, if Western Civilization consisted predominantly of the people who post on DU, the smart money would be riding on al Qaeda. But not all Dems are moonbats. It remains to be seen whether the relatively sensible ones will pull the Left's center of gravity back from the edge of the Twilight Zone, or be driven out of their party and into Republicans' arms.

Methinks mayhaps that "One Democrat" may not be too long for the Kool-Aid. Did this person have a blog? Can we lend some support?

The rest: Sickening... just sickening.

Want to have a happy thought? Just visualize our great country possessed of a loyal opposition that would present progressive alternatives to conservative policy proposals and engage in reasoned discourse in pursuit of a resolution for the general good. Now ain't that a gas.
