America's Hiroshima
Whether or not the recent reports in WorldNetDaily regarding an imminent nuclear attack by al Qaeda are true, just the fact that they very conceivably might be should be enough to wake up someone in our government other than Tom Tancredo (R-CO), who plans to request a briefing from the Justice Department on the subject.
According to captured terrorists and terrorist documents, plans call for detonation of multiple nuclear weapons within the USA. Both the nukes and the terrorists who will set them off may already have been smuggled into the country with the help of MS-13, a vicious Central American gang that has filled the power vacuum left by the Bush Administration's refusal to defend our southern border.
The goal is to kill at least 4 million Americans. Half of these must be children for the Muslim fanatics to reach their quota.
According to the report, al Qaeda has obtained at least 40 nuclear devices from the collapsed Soviet Union. These include suitcase nukes, nuclear mines, artillery shells, and even warheads. Former Russian Spetznaz (special forces) operatives are reportedly helping the jihadists locate nuclear weapons already concealed in this country by communists during the Cold War. Other avenues pursued by al Qaeda have involved buying know-how from Russians and Pakistanis, and buying fissile material on the black market.
The well-heeled bin Laden & Co. have been investing hundreds of millions into procuring nuclear weapons over the last decade. Estimates for how many fully assembled nuclear weapons are already in al Qaeda's hands range from a dozen to 70. The reason none has gone off yet is that they are being saved for a coordinated attack that will strike several major cities simultaneously.
Our survival is very much at stake. President Bush needs to put our security ahead of political considerations by closing the border immediately. It may be too much to ask of Democrats and their friends in the media that they become part of the solution, but they can at least stop being such a large part of the problem. They must stop hindering our ability to fight the War on Terror with their endless ankle-biting and irresponsible, pro-terrorist propaganda. Each and every one of us has a duty to keep our heads out of the sand and acknowledge that we are at war.

I have to agree with you on this one Van. Even if I bought "fighting the war over there, so we don't have to fight it here", I would wonder why here is still vulnerable, especially as the growth of terorrist threats increases exponentially throughout Europe, in particular.
The news of the bombings in London possibly being carried out by British nationals(likely aided by something external and much bigger), shoes the reach of the people in control. Hopefully, someone in Washington realizes that fighting insurgents on rooftops isn't going to get us anywhere in the longrun.

It's not just democrats that are the problem in securing the border. The republicans have been in charge for several years, including during 9-11 and have made no eforts to secure the borders. This is a failure of all politicians of all stripes.
Problem is the conservative corporate bankrollers whoe insist on access to cheap labor and increased returns over protecting the country that enabled them to become so prosperous. However, the businesses have already hedged their bets by outsourcing their workers and selling their assets to China (among others- taking the profits and closing their eyes.
And then there is the political pandering by both parties, including Bush himself, trying to cater to the Hispanic population with his continuation of previous administrations lax border policies.

All very sobering, VH. Good of you to scare the living crap out of us... and urge us into urge our leaders into action. The border is clearly our Number One Problemo.

"And then there is the political pandering by both parties, including Bush himself, trying to cater to the Hispanic population with his continuation of previous administrations lax border policies."
That sums it up pretty nicely, actually. Rather than cracking down HARD on illegal immigration, our politicians are pussy footing around, trying not to offend the delicate principals of Hispanic voters. They don't want to risk offending the growing minority at the expense of everyone else.
When Bush called the Minutemen a bunch of "vigilantes" he accidentally tipped his hand and showed the American public that he isn't serious about addressing the porous nature of our border.
I live in San Diego, CA. Cheap labor (elsewhere, since we're mostly biotech and electronics) is not worth the thousands of uninsured motorists we have running into people, the drug labs and shootings every summer or the impact on our educational system here on the border. But don't dare speak your mind, or someone will be screaming "Viva la raza!" into your face immediately.
I'm gonna go argue with someone about this, just for fun.

The southern border maybe moot. Might be the northern border once again. The suspect the British are looking for in connection for the July 7 attack has American contacts and he has had a week to relocate.
Adios New York City.

Suddenly, my church's philosophy of keeping a year's supply of food on hand in case of emergency makes a lot more sense.

Very, very, scary! The border problem has got to be fixed.

What's funny is that you honestly believe you're driving fear in the hearts of the extreme left. Perhaps if you backed up your statements with any actual evidence (other than Worldnet Daily). If you presented any actual confirmation from the mainstream media, perhaps I'd believe you. But since I can see you're interested in nothing but sensationalist lies, I'm not interested. I couldn't be any less intimidated by your fascistic lies.

Brad,
Perhaps you're looking for more "reputable" sources like CBS (aka "See? B.S."), who may have some "authentic documents" to support their position; or NewsweAk, who heard from the reporter's brother's uncle's nephew's dog's roommate that the supporting evidence was flushed down a toilet.
Plus, you being a wacked-out moonbat and all, no one's interested in a retort of your intellectually vacuous "fascist" statement. Actually, Internet etiquette (specifically Godwin's Law) says that when someone invokes Nazi/Hitler/fascist/etc. during a debate, they automatically lose. Then again, it didn't take more than a sentence or two for us to figure out that you're a loser. Just like the rest of your kind that keeps losing elections.
By the way, you need to adjust your tinfoil dunce cap. It gets better reception if you tilt it the other way.

Speaking of people in complete denial (Brad), the National Education Association recently held it's national convention. And what was on the agenda? Better teaching techniques? The challenge of raising math and reading scores to the levels of other industrialized nations? How to ensure financial accountability for the record amounts of taxpayer dollars going into education?
Nope, the NEA called for President Bush to withdraw our troops from Iraq, vowed to defeat the Central American Free Trade Agreement, and resolved to educate about the need for debt cancellation in underdeveloped countries.

Those who have not started their survival strategies and not sure of where to start, go to my blog. Those who are already doing what they can, please go look and perhaps you can point to an area I missed.
As for those in denial, keep your head in the sand since it will mean you wont be around when it does happen.

I don't sound as bad as Brad, do I?

Rob — I wouldn't say so.

In fairness to Brad, WND is not exactly a reliable source. However, the gratuitous "fascist" epithet at the end effectively discredits any point he was trying to make.
I think the left (the center-left, anyway) occasionally has some valid criticisms. However, it's easy to discredit even valid criticisms when they're surrounded by words like Chimpy, Bushitler, "War for Oil," and when the people who make them go into histrionics about Guantanamo Bay, call our soldiers Nazis, and appear to be ultimately rooting for our defeat.
Now, granted, I don't expect Ward Churchill, Ted Rall, Michael Moore, or Julianne Malveaux (who just this week said America was a 'terrorist nation' and George W. Bush is 'evil') to ever come up with a worthwhile idea. And people who want to be taken seriously should stay away from them, just as we on the right should (and do) distance ourselves from the likes of Pat Robertson. Unfortunately, the left is not only cozy with the lunatic left, one of them, Howard Dean, is the leader of their party.
