America's Hiroshima

Whether or not the recent reports in WorldNetDaily regarding an imminent nuclear attack by al Qaeda are true, just the fact that they very conceivably might be should be enough to wake up someone in our government other than Tom Tancredo (R-CO), who plans to request a briefing from the Justice Department on the subject.

According to captured terrorists and terrorist documents, plans call for detonation of multiple nuclear weapons within the USA. Both the nukes and the terrorists who will set them off may already have been smuggled into the country with the help of MS-13, a vicious Central American gang that has filled the power vacuum left by the Bush Administration's refusal to defend our southern border.

The goal is to kill at least 4 million Americans. Half of these must be children for the Muslim fanatics to reach their quota.

According to the report, al Qaeda has obtained at least 40 nuclear devices from the collapsed Soviet Union. These include suitcase nukes, nuclear mines, artillery shells, and even warheads. Former Russian Spetznaz (special forces) operatives are reportedly helping the jihadists locate nuclear weapons already concealed in this country by communists during the Cold War. Other avenues pursued by al Qaeda have involved buying know-how from Russians and Pakistanis, and buying fissile material on the black market.

The well-heeled bin Laden & Co. have been investing hundreds of millions into procuring nuclear weapons over the last decade. Estimates for how many fully assembled nuclear weapons are already in al Qaeda's hands range from a dozen to 70. The reason none has gone off yet is that they are being saved for a coordinated attack that will strike several major cities simultaneously.

Our survival is very much at stake. President Bush needs to put our security ahead of political considerations by closing the border immediately. It may be too much to ask of Democrats and their friends in the media that they become part of the solution, but they can at least stop being such a large part of the problem. They must stop hindering our ability to fight the War on Terror with their endless ankle-biting and irresponsible, pro-terrorist propaganda. Each and every one of us has a duty to keep our heads out of the sand and acknowledge that we are at war.
