Pow-wows in the Hamptons?
You have probably heard moonbats declare that Americans aren't really Americans because most of us have ancestors who were not Americans, and therefore we should all "go back to Europe" — where some but by no means all of our ancestors once lived — and let descendants of the people who dominated the Western Hemisphere hundreds of years ago have the land to themselves.
Of course, politically correct hyphenations aside, we are not European or anything else other than American. Every nationality has ancestors that came from somewhere else. Where exactly are we supposed to go back to when we've lived here our whole lives? Our ancestors aren't from some specific place where we can all go and live; most of us have ancestors from all over the place. Besides, if we and our less distant ancestors settled and developed this land, who could possibly have more right to it than we do?
Still, the bizarre phenomenon known as moonbattery causes people to spout this "Americans out of America" proposal, safe in the knowledge that it is so absurd, no one will ever ask them to put up or shut up. But that can't be said of the fashionably left-leaning ultrarich who make the Hamptons their playground.
Newsday reports that Long Island's Shinnecock Indians are going to court to claim 3,600 acres of some of the most exclusive real estate in the world. The Hamptons turf they are laying claim to includes the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, which in addition to being one of the most prestigious in the country (it has hosted three U.S. Opens), lends credence to the Indians' claim by its very name.
In addition to monetary compensation for the fair market value of the land, the suit seeks 150 years in past rent and interest; the total figure should reach "well into the billions of dollars."
That should buy off quite a lot of white guilt. But of course guilt, like greed, is never satiated; the more it eats, the hungrier it becomes. And besides, it's not like the limousine liberals who dominate the Hamptons will foot the bill if the suit succeeds. That will fall to the humble state taxpayers.
Unless of course Hamptons residents want to get back on the Mayflower and sail home so the Indians can have the land back. Stupid suggestion? I'll bet Ward Churchill doesn't think so.

VH --- If you aren't writing for a living you should be. This is excellent stuff. Keep it coming.

Given that Governor Pataki just settled with the Mohawks up state for $100 million, including islands and tracts of land, this may not be as crazy as you think.

The "Americans Out of America" movement has a logical end: if we must go back whence we came, we all should move back to Africa and the birthplace of mankind. Including the American Indians.

MaryHunter beat me to it (and God live him/her for not using that ugly PC neologism "humankind"), but why the hell should the Indians have North America back? It isn't theirs either.
They just should schlep right back across the Bering Strait, and leave North America to the buffalo again. (Or should I say "Buffalo-Americans"?)

Exactly, Occam! Glad to have a right-minded out-of-Africa afficionado among us. Let's give North America back to... Bigfoot.
And, I dress on the left. ;-)

Since the lefties in the Hamptons who currently occupy and enjoy this real estate have enabled much of this ideology of victimization wouldn't it be funny if they actually got tossed off the land?
Not going to happen I know, but would be nice to see them put up or just SHUT UP!
