Leftists Plan to Desecrate Ground Zero
A piece in the Wall Street Journal provides further evidence that where the Left is concerned, absolutely nothing is sacred — not even Ground Zero.
That's where they plan to erect an "International Freedom Center," which will not commemorate the victims of 9/11, nor the heroes who died trying to save them, but instead will honor the grotesque, America-hating ideology of the limousine liberals behind the project.
Future tourists who travel to New York to see a 9/11 memorial will instead find themselves looking at high tech representations of dark occurrences from American history. The immeasurably greater sins of communists and Nazis will also be represented, as if to link them to past American misdeeds in viewers' minds. What this has to do with 9/11 is anyone's guess. But given the bankrollers, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise.
The main figure behind this tasteless project is Tom Bernstein, a Hollywood financier who for the last 12 years has been president of the anti-American, pro-terrorist organization Human Rights First, which has joined with the ACLU in waging war by lawsuit against the United States Government on behalf of the people who created the two holes in the ground where he wants to build his shrine to left-wing sanctimony.
Other major players include Michael Posner (another militant moonbat from Human Rights First), Anthony Romero (executive director of the ACLU), Eric Foner (a professor whose rabidly anti-American views are appalling even by Columbia's standards), and George Soros, the zillionaire mental case who has personally bankrolled the Democratic Party's current lurch toward the lunatic Left. All of these people have made it abundantly clear that they are not on America's side in the War on Terror.
So far as I know, Osama bin Laden himself hasn't ponied up any money for the project — but then he already did his part.
In a token nod to the fact that visitors to the site will be much more interested in a 9/11 memorial than in being preached at by kooks, there will also be a separate Memorial Center — one sixth the size of the IFC. Most objects reclaimed from Ground Zero after 9/11 will be absent. There won't be enough room for them.
Patriotic Americans who come to Ground Zero to pay homage to our fallen heroes will find themselves being sneered at by liberal elite ideologues. Unfortunately it seems New York has no obscenity statutes that can be applied.

Forgive the long, off-topic entry, but I'm royally pissed.
If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime—Pol Pot or others— that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.
And what does this Moonbat Senator think equates to the gas chambers at Auschwitz and the portable guillotines of Pol Pot?
On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold.
The same thing happens to me in the Meat Department at Safeway.
On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees.
Um, considering the part of the world these guys come from, this is a big deal why?
On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room.
So, basically, every Dance Club in Miami now violates the Geneva Convention.
with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor.
Please, I've had summer camp hazings worse than that.
And even if it is bad, let's have a sense of perspective, shall we? Do the names Danny Pearl, Nick Berg, or Matt Maupin mean anything to Durbin the Turban? Loud rap music, uncomfortable temperatures, and even kinky S&M are immensely preferably to having one's head sawed off while a bunch of terrorists shriek Allahu Akbar in the background.

V the K, well ranted even if off-topic. John Gibson of FNC gave a grand dope-slap to America on this issue, and I've posted it here. (VH, sorry for the whorage, but it seemed apt.)
Tony Snow also laid into Durbin royally this am, deep-fried him in a vat of facts. Later today, Snow might have some more on this at his web site.

VH, every time I go by Ground Zero (and I'm due for another trip, next time I'm up in NJ), it just kills me. It all comes back. For these self-styled Freedom Fighters, all they fight for is America's demise and my tears.
A wee quiz: if all these freaks were rounded up, how many Gitmos would it take to hold them, to keep them from further aiding and abetting the enemy?
Short of that: if their "Freedom Center" will depend on the free market to survive, then it won't stand a homicide bomber's chance in paradise. (Or, will it? Afer all, this is NYC we're talking about...)

TMH, I don't think the free market is going to be needed to keep it afloat. The combination of Soros et al.'s pockets and our tax dollars should do the trick.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but did the Nazi concentration camps and Soviet death camps even *have* air conditioning and rap music?
What a frackin' idiot.

So, you've been chained to the floor at summer camp? That explains a lot.

Why doesn't the hyperlinked text "Human Rights First" go to the Human Rights First website so that I can see how anti-American and pro-terrorist it is?
Posted by: Kevin at June 16, 2005 7:24 PM
Kevin, you're at the wrong site if you want links to Human Rights First. Try Democratic Underground.
Posted by: Van Helsing at June 16, 2005 9:33 PM
Human Rights aren't a necessary topic on this blog Kevin.

For all the sanctimonious posturing, if liberals had any real concern for human rights, they wouldn't have been so appalled when W replaced a genocidal dictatorship with a democracy.
Posted by: Van Helsing at June 17, 2005 6:45 AM
I would think that being part of an organization (al Qaeda) that butchers innocent people would make you forfeit a few of your human rights. I also had no idea that controlling the thermosthat was a basic human right.

when W replaced a genocidal dictatorship with a democracy........
Where, exactly, did he do this? You can't mean Iraq, where the military is propping up the "democracy", for now. What he did was spend billions of dollars to justify the lie. Only 3 more years. Monkey Boy's approval is slipping down, down, down.

Depends on which side you're sitting. There are tons of great stories about what's happening in Iraq, as little children love our soldiers and they have to be warned to stay away from the tanks, as people celebrate their childrens' freedom. They see the changes for their children, and for those things they are happy.
You're not reading the blogs from Iraq, are you? Just the MSM and Amnesty International; even the lies from the terrorists themselves.
The Iraqi people are glad we are there, and glad that Saddam was removed. Generations of families were destroyed by that man and his sadistic sons; at least that genocide there will not continue. Murders have decreased by over 80% since the Americans have been there. You're damned straight they're happy, their children can finally go to school, they have phone service -when they never had it before in their lives!
The spoiled liberals can't even imagine the quality of life they had under Saddam Hussein who was pocketing the money that he should have been putting into the infrastructure. My son said those people were without electricity for almost a full year before we got there. Now they have electricity, running water, and medical care--leaps and jumps above what they've ever had in the 35 years Saddam was there.
As far as our being there for a lie, how do you know? Are you privy to all the information the president is? WMD is lying in a trench in the Bekaa Valley, you idiot. That information has been out for some time. Syrians were paid over $35 million to put it there. Is it no wonder we want the terrorists to leave Syria?
The war on terror will not stop because you want to change the channel. They will not stop their desire to kill Americans or destroy the west. They're not very much different than their nazi counterparts...in fact, the muslim brotherhood was very active in naziism, and Saddam himself was raised by his uncle who was also a nazi. Saddam felt that the nazis didn't go far enough. Is that what you support? Do you want to see them raise the flag of their moongod over the whitehouse? And sharia law over the land? They're already doing it in Canada.
With all the bitching about the Americans and Gitmo, I don't hear any bitching about France's detainee practice--they round them up the minute they hit the French border and their policy is to lock them up for 3 years until they decide what to do with them. No halal meals, no koran and no lawyers.

The worst thing about this desecration at Ground Zero is that U.S. taxpayer dollars will go to subsidize this outrage.

Here's a list of possible attractions at the Ground Zero Memorial that will make you feel better about yourself (and your party's complicity in Saddam's worst crimes):
An interactive exhibit showing how liberals are responsible for 9/11, and how Saddam was involved in a six-degrees of Kevin Bacon kind of way.
The Ronald Reagan Center for Conservative Studies (the first class offered: how to build a jihad movement overseas and then blame the consequences on your political opponents)
The Oliver North Arms for Hostages Trading Center.
A statue depicting Pat Tillman dying from enemy (not friendly) fire while leading his troops in battle.
An army recruiting station right next door.
Loyalty oaths to be signed upon entry (required for exit, see next item)
A real live internment camp where we can see and taunt enemies of the state. This is an ongoing exhibit, as people can be held for years without charges.
A gift shop selling blinders and earplugs with little elephants on them.
The ten commandments, two stories tall front and center.
Pamphlets will detail the reasons why Republicans are better than Terrorists.
And of course, the grand opening will feature a freedom themed party with guests of honor, our allies in the war on terrorism, the brutal dictators of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and former KGB officer Putin.

You know, the last time Amnesty International and Donald Rumsfeld were in disagreement about Iraq, the issue was the gassing of 5,000 people among other things. As it turned out -- even Bush admits this -- Amnesty was right, Rumsfeld was wrong. If you were picking stocks, where's the smart money now?
