Jason Voorhees Welcomed into USA by Border Guards
A piece in today's Washington Times will give an idea of just how utterly undefended our borders are:
Gregory Despres arrived at the U.S.-Canadian border crossing at Calais, Maine, on April 25 carrying a homemade sword, a hatchet, a knife, brass knuckles and a chain saw stained with what appeared to be blood. U.S. customs agents confiscated the weapons and fingerprinted Despres.
Then they let him into the United States.
The next day, a gruesome scene was discovered in Despres' hometown of Minto, New Brunswick: The decapitated body of a 74-year-old country musician named Frederick Fulton was found on his kitchen floor. The man's head was in a pillow case under the kitchen table. His common-law wife was found fatally stabbed in a bedroom.
When Despres was later found wandering down a Massachusetts highway in a sweatshirt covered in red and brown stains, he was arrested for murder.
In explanation of why a man carrying a bloody chainsaw would be allowed across the border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Bill Anthony said Despres could not be detained for technical reasons.
On the day he crossed the border, Despres was supposed to be in a Canadian court getting sentenced, having been convicted of assaulting Fulton's son-in-law and threatening to kill his whole family.
Despres' lawyer, Michael Andrews, is laying the groundwork to get him off on an insanity plea. Whoever is in charge of border security might try the same defense.
Please see Caption This! for some interesting speculation into Despres' ancestry.
