How Much Is It Worth Not to Be Caucasian?
Suburban New York's Journal News reports that the state Division of Human Rights is suing the Sparrow Ridge Homeowners Association in Putnam County for supposedly discriminating against a tenant because she has children who are part Hispanic.
Janet Lyons is lusting after "unspecified compensatory damages" because neighbors complained about her ill-mannered children. This is in addition to "$10,000 in punitive damages against the association; civil fines and penalties of up to $100,000; mandatory training on fair housing laws; and other measures" called for in the suit.
The crimes committed against her downtrodden kids include being scolded for using a basketball hoop near a garbage bin and for walking dogs in an area where pets aren't allowed.
Once the former board president of the association actually went so far as to ask the rowdy children "who they were, where they lived and what they were doing."
In another incident, a townhome owner told Lyons' son not to walk on the grass between buildings, reducing the poor urchin to tears.
So let this be a lesson: unless you can be sure that misbehaving children are pure blood Caucasians, you had better let them run rampant. Otherwise the state government just might sue you into the ground.
Thanks to Wiggins for the lead.

Sounds like a bizarre, bad dream.

Sounds like another good reason not to move to New York.
