Kerry Continues to Slither and Slip
The Boston Globe reports that John Kerry finally signed the Standard Form 180, as repeatedly promised. But although he allegedly signed the form on May 20, his military records still have not been released to the public.
As the Globe points out, "The devil is usually in the details. With Kerry, it's also in the dodges and digressions." Although Kerry asserts that he has signed the form, his staff is ''still going through it." Simply signing the form does not magically enable the public to learn the truth about his questionable war record — he still has to give the signed form to the Navy.
When will we actually see the records? You won't find out from Hanoi John. To quote the Globe:
Six months after Kerry's loss to George W. Bush, it feels somewhat gratuitous to point out how hard it can be to get a clear, straight answer from Kerry on this and other matters. But as long as the Massachusetts senator is thinking about another presidential run, the candor gap remains on the table, because he puts it there.
Fortunately the 180 Blogburst is still on the job. Some members have even resorted to poetry in an effort to persuade Jean François to honor his word. To join your own blog to this noble cause, email Cao of Cao's Blog.

Kerry, by his waffling and nuancing on his Form 180, reminds me very much of Marcus Aurelius Arnheiter.
You see after only 99 days in command of DER Vance, Arnheiter was summarily relieved of command. When Neil Sheehan wanted to write a pro-Arnheiter piece, Arnhieter strung Sheehan along. Always promising full access to Arnheiter's records but invariably what Arnheiter authorized was limited or Arnheiter would blame the Navy for screwing things up. In the end Arnheiter, by his little games, turned Sheehan against him. Go read 'The Arnheiter Affair.' Interesting stuff.
