ACLU up to the Usual

Posted by Dave Blount at March 12, 2005 11:53 AM

For misguided political reasons, our government has neglected one of its most fundamental duties by refusing to provide an adequate defense of our borders. Displaying the spirit that has made this country great, private citizens calling themselves Minutemen are pitching in to patrol the Mexican border on a volunteer basis, in order to keep out terrorists, drug-smugglers and other hostile invaders. Displaying the spirit that has caused them to be loved by the Left and thoroughly reviled by everyone else, the ACLU is trying to get in their way. Details at Evilwhiteguy's Blog.

Also stop by Stop the ACLU for the latest on the ACLU's cartoonishly malevolent, 25-year campaign to destroy the Boy Scouts. Employing their usual extortion tactics, the leftist thugs have coerced the Scouts into removing the charters of thousands of scouting units from public schools by threatening lawsuits against schools that can't afford the lawyers to fight back.

No one disputes that the Boy Scouts, with their emphasis on character development and values-based leadership training, have had an overwhelmingly positive influence on millions of children. So why does the ACLU hate them so much? I would leave that for a theologian to explain — it has to do with the nature of evil.
