Ward Churchill Followup

Eye Doc of Ace of Trump makes a good point in a comment to this post regarding college professor and demented Che Guevara wannabe Ward Churchill by stressing that his Hamilton College gig was canceled for security reasons, as opposed to being canceled because it was a mistake to invite the sick creep to speak there.

According to the Denver Post, Hamilton College President Joan Hinde Stewart remains "committed to free speech" but canceled the event because of the college's "higher responsibility ... and that is the safety and security" of the campus.

No doubt Stewart and her educrat colleagues realize they crossed a line and had to step back — but only because they were loudly called on it, not because they did anything they wouldn't do again. Note that Churchill comes off as a victim deprived of his free speech rights.

There wasn't much talk about freedom of speech when Harvard President Lawrence Summers sat himself on the hot seat by acknowledging that some people believe women tend to be less suited than men for careers in science and math. The reason of course is that in academia, home of the speech code, freedom of speech only applies to speech moonbats want to hear.

The obvious implication is that Churchill's depraved ravings (the 9/11 victims deserved to die for being capitalists, etc.) are what the BMW-driving, ivory tower Leninists at Hamilton College want to hear — which is the most likely explanation for why they invited him in the first place.

Back in Colorado, the thin ice is cracking under Churchill's Birkenstocks, now that non-academics have become aware of his existence.

"No one wants to infringe on Mr. Churchill's right to express himself," Colorado governor Bill Owens observed in a release calling for Churchill's resignation from the University of Colorado faculty. "But we are not compelled to accept his pro-terrorist views at state taxpayer subsidy nor under the banner of the University of Colorado."

However, for now Churchill is still on schedule to appear at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, which has announced it would "eagerly await" Churchill's March 1 presentation devoted to accusing America of "racism."

The problem here isn't Ward Churchill. Who cares what kind of putrescence seeps out of some noxious lunatic's mouth? The problem is that academia supports and even nurtures his kind. Lift the rock so that everyone can see what's going on, and the natural outrage of normal people will force educrats to back off from their agenda of imposing mentalities like Churchill's on the young minds they have been entrusted to educate.

Let's keep that rock lifted.
