UN Popularity Starting to Tank

The New York Post reports on a Rasmussen Reports poll showing that Americans are getting wise to the moonbattery taking place at Turtle Bay, which is bad news for the UN, considering we pay a larger share of their bills than anyone else.

Taken before High Commissioner for Refugees Ruud Lubbers crawled off under a sexual harassment cloud, the poll finds 42% with a negative view of the UN, vs. 37% with a positive view, a gap sure to widen as awareness of recent events like the ones described here filters down from newshounds into the general population. Among those following UN scandals closely, 72% believe that Saddam used the Oil-for-Food scam to bribe France and Russia.

The article points out that this is also bad news for Democrats, who "tend to be more supportive of the world body than are Republicans." Bummer.

Gee, remember those grand old days when the US refused to pay all of it's UN dues? Height of Reagan era, I believe? I don't recall the specifics. If there was case enough back then, well, gosh, I'd think there's more than enough reason yank $$ away now, given Oil for Food and Darfour at the very least.
