Eason Jordan Falls
CNN chief news executive Eason Jordan called it quits yesterday, unable to withstand the blogosphere firestorm he ignited with the outrageous claim he made at a conference in Davos, Switzerland that US forces have deliberately targeted journalists. At the time Jordan immediately backpedaled when Congressman Barney Frank pointed out that his allegations were serious and required substantiation. Jordan went on to deny ever having made the remarks in the first place. However, the cat was already out of the bag, and there is now one less moonbat spewing anti-American propaganda at CNN.
There can be no doubt that bloggers are due major credit for forcing Jordan to face the consequences of his irresponsible calumnies. In reporting his downfall, the New York Post referred to "a widespread attack by more than 400 bloggers." AP specifically mentions Easongate.com and their petition demanding that a transcript of the meeting be released, which would prove without doubt that Jordan made the allegations reported by eyewitnesses; then CNN would be in a position to either come up with support for the allegations, fire Jordan, or face pressure on key CNN advertisers. Fox News also referred to this petition.
Easongate.com continues to demand that a tape of the Davos conference be released to the public and that Jordan apologize for his unconscionable slanders. The apology is apparently not forthcoming, unless you count this squishy comment from a memo Jordan sent to CNN staffers: "I never meant to imply U.S. forces acted with ill intent when U.S. forces accidentally killed journalists, and I apologize to anyone who thought I said or believed otherwise."
Then why is he quitting? According to Jordan, "to prevent CNN from being unfairly tarnished by the controversy over conflicting accounts of my recent remarks regarding the alarming number of journalists killed in Iraq."
A BS artist to the end, Jordan laid it on thick in his resignation announcement:
I have devoted my professional life to helping make CNN the most trusted and respected news outlet in the world, and I would never do anything to compromise my work or that of the thousands of talented people it is my honor to work alongside.
No mention was made of Jordan's admission that CNN covered up atrocities committed by the barbaric regime of genocidal madman Saddam Hussein in order to keep their Baghdad bureau open.
Congratulations to Easongate.com and like-minded blogs on a job well done.
